Graeme Gentles posted this on Facebook about the above newspaper article, so I copied it. I have asked Graeme to expand on what he wrote below.

"re: read the Mercury article on the Hobart Regatta day when the southerly came through. It was Gemini SA that suffered the 7 ft split. We got jammed between Erica J and a Dragon approaching the mark. Both Tenacity Q and Wayward Q were tucked in between Gemini and Erica J. We heard the crack and thought it was one of the Lovely new Q boats. When they backed out and bore away, was when we disengaged and rounded the mark, and then we could see the water coming in the split, between the stringer and gunwale . We just reached off and slid straight up on Taylor Bro’s Slipway. An all nighter with Geof Taylor, we put a new panel in , coat of undercoat paint, and ready for the next days heat".
