Home to Turnaround Pt down to Surfers via GC600 Park to Robbies Cafe to The Spit (both ends) then back through GC600 Park back to the Turnaround Pt and finally back Home about 60kms.
Today's highlight was the joy of riding.
I left at 7:25am. The breeze was light and building from the North for the whole ride and bloody warm.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Goosey Lucy and mates were out and enjoying life. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Esplanade to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Due to the Spit reconstruction, I now turn off Federation Walk just before the Sand Pumping Pier. I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park.
After leaving The Spit, I rode along the new Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park and stopped at the beach, and ate my museli bar and watched a guy launch his jetski.
I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld, stopping to take a photo of 'my rock' that I jumped and fell off on Wednesday. My arm is still sore. Then headed along the piers near Marina Mirage. Barge was extremely close, so I photographed it.
Continued back to MacIntosh Island. Goosey Lucy and mates were happily eating. I started homeward.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a 2 scoops of rum and raisin ice cream. BLOODY yumma.
After eating, I then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, and counted 42 vacant sites out of 230 caravan sites. That was 39 less than on Monday 11th Jan.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.

I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld, and as the carpark was absolutely chockers, I decided to stop and take a photo.
Bad mistake, as I climbed up on a 1m high bollard/concrete block. Took the photos, but getting down was a problem, so I jumped, my knees aren't as strong as they were, or I may have put on 40+kgs since my 20s. Bottomline, I did a magnificent tumble roll. A couple of cuts, so I headed directly home. hence the shorter distance.
Arrived at home, all safe and with a few cuts.
Moral of today's ride, DON'T CLIMB ON 1m HIGH BOLLARDS, AS I AM AN OLD FAT FART.

I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld, then as it was lunchtime, I rode on the shared path past Marina Mirage and then out along the jetties, then down through Southport YC car park to check out the multi million dollars 'Super Yacht' marina. I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. After leaving The Spit, I now ride on recently completed Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park and stopped at the beach.
I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld, before heading along the piers near Marina Mirage and photograph the dredging for the new jetties.
Continued back to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water before heading homeward.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and due to the Northernly blowing like buggery, I gave the Caravan Park a miss.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.
Today's highlight was: the joy of riding.
While The Spit is under going major enhancements, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.
I left at 7:22am. The breeze was very light and building from the East. It was beautiful sunshine the whole ride.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers. Continued on through to the South side of Broadbeach. Stopped for a quick rest, before heading back to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.

Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
As usual, it was absolutely magic.
Broadbeach through the Park.
With all my years of yachting, I think that this yacht is a bit suss.
Today's highlight was: the joy of riding.
I didn't leave until 8:47am. The breeze was medium and building from the South East.

After eating, I then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 86 exactly caravans, 14 less than Fri 6th Nov.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.
Same as last Monday - a bastard of a South Easterly.
Today's highlight was: just the joy of riding with a bloody magnificent South Easterly tailwind.
Today's lowlight was: the agony of riding into a bloody awful South Easterly headwind.
I left at 7:37am without Brekky.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path to my usual photo spot. It was blowing like buggery, I took my normal weather photos, just near Hanlan St.

I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island, via Marina Mirage jetties. I stopped at MacIntosh Island and ate my museli bar. The 13 geese were ALL out on the lawns, enjoying themselves.

I left at 6:40am without Brekky.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path to my usual photo spot. It was blowing like buggery, SO C Gull wasn't there today, regardless, I took my normal weather photos, just near Hanlan St.
I then headed off to the Spit with a magnificent tailwind, along the various shared paths, and weaved between the less than normal amount of walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Due to the Spit reconstruction, I now turn off Federation Walk just before the Sand Pumping Pier. I also said "hi" to Nige who was removing all the damaged foliage from the weekend storms. Not as bad as I expected. A couple of trees had lost branches.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and as I hadn't had brekky, I ordered a toasted ham and cheese sanga. BLOODY yumma.
After eating, I then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 75 caravans, 5 more than Fri 30th Oct.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.
Today's highlight was: Riding to see the Ch7 Sunrise weather team on the beach at Surfers.
Today's lowlight was: The bastards were packing up, as they are on Sydney time. I missed Sam by 10 minutes. Prick.
I slept shithouse last night and got up about 6:15am, cbf riding, so I watched Ch7 Sunrise and as Sam and his weather team were at Surfers. That's all I needed to motivate me. I left at 7:07am.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, keeping an eye out for the Sunrise team. Spotted about 200 meters from my usual Surfers weather spot. It was 7;49am, so I was surprised to see the crew packing up. Upon indepth questioning, the crew told me that they are working on Sydney's time, so I missed the day's final weather cross by less than 10 minutes. How's that for timing. Shithouse, that's how. I noticed that Sam Mac was nowhere to be seen. Not a great loss, but I did ride to see him.
Anyway, I took a photo of the crew packing up and then headed the 200 meters to my normal photo spot. At least, C Gull was there, SO I took its photo and my normal weather photos, just near Hanlan St.
I then headed off to the Spit slowly along the various shared paths, and weaved between the less than normal amount of walkers. The wind was light and variable and I hardly noticed it.
I stopped at Muriel Henchman Park, while there, I chatted to 2 surfers who just pulled up in their tinny, they had been surfing the South Straddy break. They anchor their tinny just out to sea of the surf break and go surfing. Pretty smart actually.
I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island, via Marina Mirage jetties. I stopped at MacIntosh Island and ate my museli bar. I was rapt to see ALL 13 geese out on the lawns, enjoying themselves, I was also welcomed by Peter Peacock just balancing on the back of the benchseat.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and as I hadn't had brekky, I ordered a toasted ham and cheese sanga. BLOODY yumma.
After eating, I then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 70 caravans, 9 more than Mon 26th Oct.

Today's highlight was: Riding on a beautiful sunny, light breeze.
Today's lowlight was: It is Saturday and the walkers are everywhere.
I left at 6:53am. As it is Bathurst Weekend and I have some serious TV viewing. I have set Foxtel recordings for 4 days totalling 41 hours of taping. So I have plenty to watch.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road (being Saturday, it is safer on the road than the shared path), down to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St.
I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos before heading off to the Spit slowly along the various shared paths, and weaved between the many, many walkers. With a very pleasant light tailwind.
Upset that there was NO "Mr Whippy" van today. I could have gone a choc dip. I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island. Where I stopped and spoke to Mark (the head gardener), today is his last day before he starts 3 weeks leave.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and as I hadn't had brekky, I ordered a toasted ham and cheese sanga. BLOODY yumma.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride. 184kms since Monday.
Today's high & lowlight was: Seeing that Phil died. Phil was a homeless guy who slept on a bench seat on the beachside of Cavill Ave. I used to talk to him. I saw him on Tuesday 'asleep' on his bench seat, as it turned out he was dead. At least, he died in his sleep. RIP Phil.
I did some shopping beforehand and didn't leave until 11:11am. The breeze was medium from the South East. It was a warm 24degs.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the shared path into a moderate headwind, down to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I noticed that there was a sign where Phil slept, so I stopped and photograph it. I didn't realise that Phil was 3 months older than me. RIP Phil.
I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos before heading off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers. With a pleasant tailwind.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Due to the Spit reconstruction, I now turn off Federation Walk just before the Sand Pumping Pier. I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island. Where I stopped and spoke to Mark (the head gardener) he is a Lowndesy fan the same as me and we both hope that Lowndesy and Jamie win Bathurst on Sunday.
I didn't stop at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, as I had one earlier in the day.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.
Today's highlight was: just completing the ride, I was a bit buggered by the strong South easterly.
I did some shopping beforehand and didn't leave until 10:43am. The breeze was bloody awful from the South East. It was a warm 24degs.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the shared path into a bloody awful headwind, down to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos before heading off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers. With a bloody MAGIC tailwind.
At a crossing, I rode past a modern day "Mr Whippy" van and did a U turn and bought a choc dip, it was magnificent. I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island. Where I stopped and took some photos of Peter Peacock and young Peter Peacock plus Goosey Lucy and mates.
I didn't stop at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, as I had one earlier in the day, BUT as I approacheed Charis Seafood (near home), George and all his mates were on the beach waiting to be fed scraps from Charis. This happens daily about 1pm. Check out the photo and the number of Georges.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.

I did a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 69 caravans, 126 less than last Fri 25th Sep School holidays.

So watch this space for updates.
Heading homeward, I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, then a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 71 caravans, 3 less than last Sunday 13th Sep.
Arrived at home.
As usual, it was absolutely magic.
Today's highlight was: seeing the Tickford Supercar Team still back at Seaworld Conference Centre.
While The Spit is under going major enhancements, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.

I left at 8:20am. The breeze was very light and building from the South. It was overcast and ready to rain, with a forecast of rain. I had my spray jacket at the ready.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers. It was here that I got 7 drops of rain on me. Continued on through to the South side of Broadbeach. Stopped for a quick rest, before heading back to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.

I rode along the bike lane and as I approached the Seaworld Conferenece Centre, I spotted the Tickford Supercars Transporters, they were back.
The Supercars were at Townsville last weekend and are racing at Tailem Bend next Saturday week, so I expected the teams to drive straight from Townsville to Tailem Bend. They obviously didn't.
So, I naturally stopped to grab a photo or two, when some guy walks out holding a laptop, so I spoke to him. He said the team was here until next Tuesday when they travel to Tailem Bend for 2 weekends racing then travel back to Seaworld until they go to Bathurst. Bathurst is the last round for this season. They then may go home and relax. They have been away from their families for months. I wished him all the best and continued on my ride.
Heading along the piers near Marina Mirage then along the shared paths back to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water before heading homeward.
Stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 62 caravans, 2 less than last Fri 4th Sep.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant. Even if it drizzled a little bit.

Today's highlight was: nearly riding over a 1m eastern Brown Snake. I think it was a baby.
Lowlight was by the time I stopped and grabbed my camera, the snake was gone into the long grass.
I left at 7:57am. The breeze was medium and building from the North West. As it was 20degs, I didn't need to wear my second jersey and tights.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St.
As I turned towards the road which is less than 20 meters away, a 1meter baby eastern brown snake was crossing the gravel track. As it saw me, it sped up and then stopped and raised its head in a striking pose. Luckily, I was outside its reach. I stopped and quickly walked back with my phone at the ready to take a photo BUT the little bugger had done a 'runner' into the long grass. Snake 1 Frosty zero.
You definitely don't go looking for Eastern browns in long grass. I continued my ride.
I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. After leaving The Spit, I now ride on the recently completed Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park and stopped at the beach and ate my banana.
I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld, before heading along the piers near Marina Mirage.
Continued back to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water before heading homeward.
Stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 75 caravans, 15 more than yesterday.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
It was absolutely magic.
Today's highlight was: just completing the ride, I was a bit buggered beforehand.
I slept in and didn't leave until 8:47am. The breeze was medium and building from the North West. As it was 20degs, I didn't need to wear my second jersey and tights.

My new friend "C Gull".
Today's highlight was: the sheer joy of riding.
While The Spit is under going major enhancements, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.
I left at 6:45am. The breeze was medium and building from the North East. Even though it was 19degs, the wind chill made me wear my second jersey and tights.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers and through to the South side of Broadbeach. Stopped for a quick rest, before heading back to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.

I have seen that The Spit is under going major enhancement works, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.
I left at 7:37am. The breeze was very light and mainly from the South East. It was warm enough to leave my second jersey and tights at home.

Today's highlight was: the sheer joy of riding again after a 4 week layoff.
I have seen that The Spit is under going major enhancement works, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.
I left at 6:45am. The breeze was very light and variable and cool enough that I needed to wear a second jersey and tights.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Noticed that the Bridge is now open, so rode over there to Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers and through to the South side of Broadbeach. Stopped for a quick rest, before heading back to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. EXCEPT right at the Seaway there is a construction area with fences etc and you can't get through. In future, I need to head over to Seaworld Dve at the Sand Pumping Pier. I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit and it was blcoked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. While riding the laps, I noticed that the new shared path that has been built alongside Seaworld Drive, is now open. So I rode it. very nice EXCEPT...it comes to an abrupt end, right opposite the Seaworld Conference Centre. There is a 50 meter gap between the end and where the existing footpath begins. Unreal.
I rode along the bike lane on Seaworld Drive before heading along the piers near Marina Mirage. Checking out Helitours, it is still operating.
Continued back to MacIntosh island. Stopped and asked Mark, if all the 13 geese are still here. He said that they are, BUT there is internal fighting amongst the dominant males. I rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. The girl said that I haven't been there for awhile. I explained why I hadn't.
I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 71 caravans, 10 less than on Wed 29th July.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
It was absolutely magic, back on my bike. I did miss it so much and managed to increase my weight by a kilo or two or three.
I had a couple of skin cancers cut out and have been grounded for minimum of 3 weeks. Can't do anything with my left arm. Doctor said NO RIDING. Bastard!!
Well Today, I couldn't stand it anymore, so I drove 'Spotto" to The Spit.
To my shock, horror. Both Spits are barricaded off as the Council is doing major enhancements and they plan to be closed until Xmas.
Bugger... There goes my sitting on my rock at the end of the Spit. My rock probably wont be there after the completion.
Today's highlight was: the magnificent weather - Coral Sea was like a mill pond with a small shorebreak.
I left at 7:22am. The breeze was very light and variable and warm enough that I didn't need to wear a second jersey or tights.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is. Said "Hi" to Mark and Nige. Continued on my way to Surfers. The bridge from MacIntosh island to Narrowneck is still blocked and still don't know when it will open. Very weird. I rode 1 lap of the park.
I headed to Surfers along the Esplanade, and stopped at my usual spot near Hanlan St and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway then rode a lap of Doug Jennings Park (1.5km), then another lap extending to the end of Moondarewa Spit (inland spit) (3.5km). Then another lap of the Doug Jennings Park, then out to the end of The Spit (seaward spit). Sat on my rock, and ate my banana. Then repeated my ride back to Moondarewa Spit and another lap of the shared path of the Doug Jennings Park.
Then rode back along Seaworld Dve and stopped to look at the Tickford Supercars but everything was locked up and noone was around. Continued past the Southport SLSC. Arriving back at MacIntosh island, I rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. A bit different from Sunday's queue. I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 81 caravans, 12 less than on Thursday.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
Another great ride.
Today's highlight was: watching the Tickford Supercar teams playing with their cars.
I left at 10:21am. The breeze was light and building from the South and warm enough that I didn't need to wear my spray jacket.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is. Said "Hi" to Mark.
I rode halfway along Federation Walk then along Seaworld Dve to the Seaworld Conference Centre where the 2 big B double Tickford transporters were parked. As I rode in, Cam Water's Mustang was parked beside the transporters and the mechanics were tuning it. I walked around taking photos and spoke to the guys. One of them asked if I wanted to come inside, which I jumped at. I was that excited, my inside photos were blurry as I was shaking.
I continued to the Seaway then rode a lap of Doug Jennings Park (1.5km), then another lap extending to the end of Moondarewa Spit (inland spit) (3.5km). Then another lap of the Doug Jennings Park, then out to the end of The Spit (seaward spit). Sat on my rock, and ate my banana. Then repeated my ride back to Moondarewa Spit and another lap of the shared path of the Doug Jennings Park.
Then rode back along Seaworld Dve and stopped again to look at the cars but everything was locked up and noone was around. Later, I found out that the 2 cars and team were 'displaying their skill' at the Seaworld water display. Finally, continued past the Southport SLSC. Arriving back at MacIntosh island, I rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. A bit different from Sunday's queue. I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 93 caravans, 3 more than on Tuesday.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
Another great ride.
Today's highlight was: watching the Firemen practicing on their brand new $1.8m Fire truck with a 33m extendable ladder. Bloody nice.
I left at 7:41am. The breeze was light and building from the South and warm enough that I didn't need to wear my spray jacket.

Then repeated my ride back to Moondarewa Spit and another lap of the shared path of the Doug Jennings Park.
Then rode back along the gravel path again. Past the Southport SLSC. Arriving back at MacIntosh island, I noticed the Firemen and their big truck. I stopped and chatted to them, then rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward. As I passed the firetruck, I stopped and took photos. As I was doing this the head guy walked over and started telling me about their $1.8m brand new firetruck with an extendable ladder upto 33m, today was at 22m. He also said they were training the new firemen to climb the ladder. Nice guy.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. A bit different from Sunday's queue. I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 90 caravans, 9 less than on Sunday.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
Another great ride.
