    Sun 26th July 2026 - 33.00kms
    The Spit via Southport.

Today's highlight: was the COLD. I thought that I was back riding in Melbourne. At 6:00am it was 8degs felt like 5 degs. I believe the 5degs.

I awoke at 5:50am and checked the current weather report and looked outside. It looked nice but COLD. So I wore long cycle pants and my wet weather jacket. I was warm as.
I left home at 6:03am, it was cold, dry and cloudless with bugger all wind. The Broadwater was glassy.

I rode my normal route to The Spit and returned home via the same route, staying on the Shared Paths as much as I could.
I headed straight to the Sundale Bridge, over the Bridge, I headed through the Southport YC then along the Shared Path, towards The Seaway/Spit. The superyacht jetty was empty.

I took photos on my way to and from The Spit. I rode around the Marina Mirage shopping complex (which has started to be demolished), followed by a lap of the Seaworld Carpark, a lap and a bit of the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. It was beautiful at the end of the Spits - sunny and no wind.

Rode back the same way that I rode to The Spit. I felt good, so I decided to do a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 227 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

I took my time and loved the ride.

Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.

    The Spit via Southport.

Today's highlight: was the COLD. I thought that I was back riding in Melbourne. At 6:00am it was 7degs felt like 5 degs. I believe the 5degs.

I awoke at 5:50am and checked the current weather report and looked outside. It looked nice but COLD. So I wore long cycle pants and my wet weather jacket. I was warm as.
I left home at 6:09am, it was cold, dry and cloudless with bugger all wind. The Broadwater was glassy.

I rode my normal route to The Spit and returned home via the same route, staying on the Shared Paths as much as I could.
I headed straight to the Sundale Bridge, stopped on the Sundale Bridge and took a panoramic photo, showing (L-R Highrisers) Southport, Main Beach and Surfers in the background.

Over the Bridge, I headed through the Southport YC then along the Shared Path, towards The Seaway/Spit. The superyacht jetty had a new yacht "Black Pearl". This "Black Pearl" certainly looked different to Captain Jack Sparrow’s "Black Pearl".

I felt good, so I decided to do a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 225 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites. Being NSW school holidays, it was nearly chockers. My only disappointment was, I only saw 1 x fifth wheeler caravan. We sold our fifth wheeler back in 2022.

I took my time and loved the ride.

Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.

    Wed 8th July 2026 - 28.87kms
    The Spit via Southport.

Today's highlight: just out riding and also watching the rough seas at the Spit.

I didn't expect to ride today, as I had to wash our car. BUT after my daily coffee at Joseph's and after having the car washed, when I got home, I thought "Bugger it I am going riding". So I did.
I left home at 8:59am, it was cool, dry and sunny with a Southerly Gale blowing, which I didn't realise until I left home. Thank God for my gears. The Broadwater was choppy.

I rode my normal route to The Spit and returned home via the same route, staying on the Shared Paths as much as I could.
I headed straight to the Sundale Bridge, through the Broadwater Parklands.

Over the Bridge, I headed through the Southport YC then along the Shared Path, towards The Seaway/Spit. The superyacht jetty was empty.
I took photos on my way to and from The Spit. I rode around the Marina Mirage shopping complex (which will be demolished), followed by a lap of the Seaworld Carpark. Being school holidays, there was a long queue waiting for Seaworld to open at 10am. Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. As I was riding out along the Seawall, the wind was blowing the sand into and stinging my face. At the end of the Spit, it was blowing like buggery and the spray was covering the seawall.

Heading South, I was riding directly into the Southerly gale, so going from The Spit back to the Seaworld, I rode along Federation Walk, which is a dirt/gravel track surrounded by vegetation, which managed to block the wind. It worked and then from the Sundale Bridge to home, I had a beautiful tailwind.

I took my time and loved the ride.

Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.

    The Spit via Southport.

Today's highlight: watching the dolphins, whales, the crab and a Wobbegong Shark.

I left home at 5:59am, it was cool, dry and sunny with a very light Westerly. The Broadwater was glassy.

I rode my normal route to The Spit and returned home via the same route, staying on the Shared Paths as much as I could.

Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. As I approached the Seaway/Spit I spotted 2 dolphins in the Seaway, but I stuffed up taking photos. At the end of the Spit, I spotted a couple of whales way offshore. As I rode back from The Seaway/Spit, I saw 2 fishermen trying to remove a hook from the fish they just caught. Problem was it was a 1 meter long Wobbegong Shark, he finally managed to remove it and get the shark back in the water. Hopefully, it will survive. Continuing my ride home, I rode around the perimeter of the Seaworld carpark and to my absolute surprise, there was a bloody big crab (about 30cm wide) making its way across the carpark. I stopped and took photos and then rode over to the security office and asked if they could arrange to save the crab. They said that they would. I hope they did.

The rest of my ride homeward was uneventful.

I took my time and loved the ride.

    The Spit via Southport.

Today's highlight: the joy of riding.

Being an old fart, I have lately been suffering from aches and pains but I decided that I should ride today.
I awoke at 6:15am, checked the weather outside. It was dry and the sun had not risen and there was a light NW breeze. So I went riding. The Broadwater had a ripple.

The superyacht jetty still had "Jesama" anchored there. I stopped and chatted to a crew member, they hope to leave tomorrow for Fiji. They found a motor issue which has delayed their leaving Southport.
I took photos on my way to and from The Spit. I rode around the Marina Mirage shopping complex (which will be demolished), followed by a lap of the Seaworld Carpark and also took a photo of the "Seaworld" hedge. Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took photos, including the 6-10 surfers that were catching some nice waves.

The Spit, Southport & Lands End.

    Today's highlight: seeing the Sunrise.

As the weather has been shit lately, I decided that I should ride today.
I awoke at 5:00am, checked the weather outside. It was dry and the sun had not risen and there was a strongish NW breeze. So I went riding. The Broadwater had a ripple.

I rode my normal route to The Spit and returned home via the same route and added the Lands End section, staying on the Shared Paths as much as I could.
I headed straight to the Sundale Bridge, through the Broadwater Parklands.

Over the Bridge, I headed through the Southport YC then along the Shared Path, towards The Seaway/Spit. The superyacht jetty still had "Jesama" anchored there. I did notice that the plane was been replaced by a helicopter. I spoke to a crewman who said that they will be heading to Fiji next week.
I took photos on my way to and from The Spit. I rode around the Marina Mirage shopping complex (which will be demolished), followed by a lap of the 'dark' Seaworld Carpark. Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and managed to capture pre sunrise photos.

Rode back the same way that I rode to The Spit. I stopped at a benchseat with a nice view over the Broadwater, just near the Sundale Bridge and ate my banana.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 152 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites. Felt good, so I ccontinued to the Landss End and then back to home.

I took my time and loved the ride.

    The Spit & Southport.

Today's highlight: just the joy of Riding.

As the weather has been shit lately, I decided that I should ride today or Sunday.
I awoke at 5:00am, checked the weather outside. It was dry and cloudy and the sun had not risen and there was a strong breeze. So I went riding. The Broadwater had a ripple.

The superyacht jetty still had "Jesama" anchored there. I did notice that the plane that was on the rear deck last Sunday was missing. Very rare. Upon further investigation, I found that yesterday they had winced the plane off "Jesama".
I took photos on my way to and on my way from The Spit. I rode around the Marina Mirage shopping complex (which will be demolished), followed by a lap of the Seaworld Carpark. Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos.

Rode back the same way that I rode to The Spit. I stopped at a benchseat with a nice view over the Broadwater, just near the Sundale Bridge and ate my banana.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 173 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

I took my time and loved the ride.

Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.

Today's highlight: Finding Seaworld Drive closed due to a Fun Run.

I left home about 6:56am, it was cloudy and looking about to rain at any second but didn't rain at all during my ride. The wind was beautiful and very light.

I headed towards Southport first, over the Sundale Bridge, rode through Mirage Mirage complex, then started to notice cars parked everywhere even the Seaworld carpark was full. There were security, so I asked them what was happening and was told it was the Gold Coast 30km fun run and that it was between Seaworld and the end of the Spit doing a couple of laps to get to 30kms.

So I decided there and then to ride down to Surfers and come home via MacIntosh Island.

Along the shared path to Surfers. Checked out the closed sction of The Esplanade at Cavill Ave. Stopped and took some photos before heading homeward, doing a lap of MacIntosh Island stopped and spoke to Viv who I hadn't seen since July 2025.

I rode my normal route to The Spit and returned home via the same route, staying on the Shared Paths as much as I could.
I headed straight to the Sundale Bridge, through the Broadwater Parklands.

Over the Bridge and as I was heading to the Southport YC, I saw a TV reporter and cameraman setting up. (It was Georgie from Sunrise, which I watch daily). Through the Southport YC then along the Shared Path, towards The Seaway/Spit. The superyacht jetty still had "Danica" moored there, it has been there before 5th March.
I took photos on my way to and on my way from The Spit. I rode around the Marina Mirage shopping complex (which is being demolished), followed by a lap of the Seaworld Carpark. Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos.

At The Spit, it was beautiful, with the sun shining brightly.

Rode back the same way that I rode to The Spit. I stopped at a benchseat in the shade just near the Sundale Bridge and ate my banana.

I continued homeward, I took my time and loved the ride.

Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.

Today's highlight: Riding in beautiful Sunny/Cloudy with a little bit of Drizzle.

I had no intention to ride today, so I did our weekly shop and then coffee at Josephs. On my way home, I thought that I need a ride, so I did.
It was a beautiful Sunny/Cloudy (25deg) day. The breeze was a South Easterly and the Broadwater had slight chop.

I rode my normal route to The Spit and returned home via the same route.
I headed straight to the Sundale Bridge, through the Broadwater Parklands.

Over the Bridge and through the Southport YC then along the Shared Path, towards The Seaway/Spit. The superyacht jetty still had "Danica" moored there. As I rode past the crew were cleaning it.

Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos.

At The Spit, there was very light drizzle, it felt beautiful with the drizzle hitting my skin. It was sunny as, with a tiny cloud above. So I stopped and took a photo of the tiny raindrops on my speedo.

Rode back the same way that I rode to The Spit.

I continued homeward, I took my time and loved the ride.

    To Broadbeach with Lukey.

Today's highlight: Riding with my 'little boy' Lukey. It was magical.

Last week Lukey said he needed a change of scenery from riding near his home to riding down around The Spit, Surfers etc. So last week we rode to The Spit. Today we made our way to Broadbeach.

We left home about 5:26am, and we rode over the Sundale Bridge, through MacIntosh Island (where the Supercars race), through Surfers via the Beach Shared path and turned around when we reached Broadbeach and rode along the road back to Surfers, then along the beach shared path back through MacIntosh Island and finally arrived home.

As Lukey has family commitments, he has to be home around 8:30am, we only stopped for a few minutes at Hanlan St, Surfers, on our way home and took a couple of photos.

Arrived at home. Another great ride, especially that I rode with my 'little boy'.

Today's highlight: Riding in beautiful COOL Overcast.

I left home about 7:47am, I had no intention of riding today. I woke at 6:00am, went to Josephs for my daily coffee, got home, and felt like a ride, so I did.
It was a beautiful, COOL, Overcast day. The breeze was a COOL Southerly and the Broadwater had slight chop.

I headed straight to the Sundale Bridge, through the Broadwater Parklands.

Over the Bridge and through the Southport YC then along the Shared Path, towards The Seaway/Spit. The superyacht jetty was full, with "Sunset", "Zuri" and "Maritimo 100" all tied up at the jetty. Stopped and speak to one of the crew aboard "Maritimo 100" about their Sydney to Hobart race, which they had to retire from, due to a fault. I took photos on my way to and on my way from The Spit. I rode around the Marina Mirage shopping complex (which is being demolished), followed by a lap of the Seaworld Carpark. Through the Muriel Henchman carpark, which had a wrecked car there, continuing out to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then finally made it to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos.

At The Spit, there were at least 100 cars parked for the latest movie that they are making on the Gold Coast. Through some thorough investigating, I found out that it is Alan Ritchson (aka Jack Reacher - Lee Child's books) is the main actor, unfortunately, everyone was ferried over the Seaway to South Straddy Island where the physical filming is underway.
From the GC Bulletin newspaper "It has been less than two weeks since renowned American actor Alan Ritchson started filming on the Gold Coast. The Spit With Lukey.

Today's highlight: Riding with my 'little boy' Lukey. It was magical.

Lukey said that we both need to get off our bums and go riding. He said that he will drive to my place and we will ride to The Spit as the views along the way 'shit over' the views around his area. So we arranged that he gets to my place around 5:30am as he has family commitments and he has to be home around 8:30am. Hence it was ride non stop to The Spit, stop have a drink take a few photos then ride non stop back home.
We left home about 5:35am. As Lukey wanted nice scenery, I took him past the Superyacht jetty, "Maritimo 100" was moored there, then through the Southport YC carpark, along the jetty surrounding Marina Mirage, around the perimeter of the Seaworld carpark, past the front door of the Sea World Resort, then a lap and a half of Muriel Henchman Park, down to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took 4 photos, then to the tip of The Spit/Seawall plus Danny the Dolphin was swimming in the seaway and said "Hi" to us. Plus there was the normal magnificent views, consequently, Lukey loved the route.
