I left home at 8:06am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze started off blowing like buggery from the South East. The Broadwater was rough for the Broadwater.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, to a spot near Cavill Ave at Surfers, as the Springtime Festival was packing up.

I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk. Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my banana, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then did another lap to both Spits.

I left The Spit, and continued along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive, rode through Muriel Henchman park, did a lap of the Seaworld carpark, then rode around Marina Mirage, past Helitours which is on the jetty. Continued back to MacIntosh Island, did another lap.
Headed to Cafe Rockpool. Stopped and ordered a ham and cheese toastie with a coffee. It was YUMMA.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 139 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

Today's highlight: was talking to the Fireys about the crane driver who had a medical episode, approx 60m above ground in his cabin.

I left home at 7:51am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze started off very light and slowly building from North East. The Broadwater was glassy tending to slightly choppy.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands, the GC Show Stall holders were in the midst of packing up after a very successful show on the weekend. Continued to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, to my normal spot at Surfers, to take my weather photos.

While heading to The Spit, as I approached one of the many highrise building under construction, I noticed plenty of Fireys, Police and Ambos. I asked one of the workers and he said that the crane driver had a medical episode and was stuck in his cabin, approx 60m above ground. See photo below.

I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk. Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my museli bar, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then did another lap to both Spits.

As I was leaving The Spit, I noticed the Fireys were setting up in the carpark, they were practising their ladder etc. I asked if they had heard about the crane driver. The Firey said that he saw me there and told me that the crane driver had been rescued. One of the rescuers tied the crane driver to himself and they were lowered to the ground by rope. The crane driver was taken to the GC Hospital by ambulance after suffering a heart attack??

Today's highlight: was back to riding my normal 50+kms route and the joy of riding on a sunny Gold Coast day.

Mon 11th Jul 2022 - Lands End, The Spit, Cafe Rockpool - 36.64kms.

Today's highlight: was recording my 800th ride to the GC Spit - 1st ride was way back on Wed 5th Aug 2009.

I received my 4th CoVid jab last Wednesday and as my immune system is a tad weak, I felt ratshit for a few days, BUT such is life.
I only wanted to do a shorter ride, consequently, I gave Goosey Lucy Park and Surfers amiss.

I left home at 8:17am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was building steadily from the South. The Broadwater had a slight chop.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands, but turned left just over the Sundale Bridge and headed directly to The Spit. You can tell that the school holidays have ended as the shared paths were deserted. I rode past the SuperYacht dock, then through Southport YC carpark, out onto the Marina Mirage jetty, around the perimeter of the Seaworld carpark, across the road onto the gravel Federation Walk path and finally arrived at the Seawall/Spit.

Rode to the end of The Spit to sit and eat my banana BUT due to the wind and spray, my sitting area was "wet as a shag", so I took my photos, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then did another lap to both Spits.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path directing to Cafe Rockwell, where I stopped and ordered a ham and cheese toastie with a coffee. It was YUMMA.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 199 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

I was in a talkative mood today, I spoke to a Ch7 camerman who was taking video of the waves etc at The Spit, I watched CH7 news thinking that this old fart might get his head on the news. Nope, didn't happen.

By the time that I stopped and got my camera out, the Bastard didn't surfcae again.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive, rode through Muriel Henchman park, did a lap of the Seaworld carpark, then rode around Marina Mirage, past Helitours which is on the jetty. Continued back to MacIntosh Island, did another lap, before heading to Cafe Rockpool. I stopped and ordered a ham and cheese toastie with a coffee. It was YUMMA.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 186 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

Thu 2nd Jun 2022 - Lands End, GC600 Park, Surfers, The Spit, Cafe Rockpool - 53.53kms.

Today's highlight: was the joy of riding with a very cold start.

I left home at 8:48am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was light and building from the South. A headwind heading to Surfers BUT a beautiful tailwind pushing me to The Spit and from the Sundale bridge, all the way home. There was a slight chop on the Broadwater.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continuing through the Broadwater Parklands. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Stopped and spoke to Mark and Viv, they asked where I had been. I told them.. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, to my normal spot at Surfers, to take my weather photos. The Shared Path was back to normal, with locals and tourists on their morning walk. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths.

I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk. Stopped halfway and spoke to Christine, who was doing her daily walk. The gravel track has recovered from all the flooding and is now bone dry again. Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my banana, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then did another lap to both Spits.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive, rode through Muriel Henchman park, did a lap of the Seaworld carpark, then rode around Marina Mirage, past Helitours which is on the jetty, crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued back to MacIntosh Island.

I stopped at Cafe Rockpool and ordered a ham and cheese toastie with a coffee. It was YUMMA.

Sat 2nd Apr 2022 - Lands End, GC600 Park, Surfers, The Spit, Cafe Rockpool - 53.59kms.

Today's highlight: was seeing the water, that was dumped last Tuesday, is drying out and also meeting Lukey at the Seaworld Resort entrance on his new Kawasaki Z900.

My new riding routine of Coffee and shopping before riding appears to be working well. I like it, anyway.

I left home at 8:00am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was light and building from the North East. The Broadwater had a slight chop.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands, down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, to my normal spot at Surfers, to take my weather photos. The Shared Path was packed, it is the first day of the Qld school holidays. I will try and ride on Monday, Wednesday & Friday while it is school holidays. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths.

I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk. About halfway, the water was still covering the gravel path. I rode through the first flooded area, at least my shoes didn't get wet this time, then I approached the second flooded area and looking at the size I chickened out and headed back to Seaworld Drive shared path. As I approached Seaworld Resort, Lukey rang to ask where I was, as he is out doing a 'run in' ride on his brand new Kawasaki Z900 (a bloody beautiful motorbike). We met and chatted for a few minutes at Seaworld Resort, before we went out separate ways. Next time I will take a photo of Lukey and his bike. Seaworld Drive was completely flooded last Thursday, today the side from The Spit is open but the other side is still flooded. I continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my banana, then rode to the end of the Moondarewa Spit, (as Disney appears to have finished their filming of Nautilus). I ride another lap of both Spits. I took a photo of the drying section of Doug Jennings Park.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive, rode through Muriel Henchman park, did a lap of the Seaworld carpark, (it is 90% full) then rode around Marina Mirage, past Helitours which is on the jetty, crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued back to MacIntosh Island.

I stopped at Cafe Rockpool and ordered a ham and cheese toastie. It was YUMMA.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were only 153 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

Arrived at home. Another enjoyable ride.

My new riding routine of Coffee and shopping before riding appears to be working well.

I left home at 7:53am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was light and slowly building from the East. The Broadwater started off as a mirror.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Check out the photo below, the view towards Southport was beautiful with the water very glassy. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands, down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, to my normal spot at Surfers, to take my weather photos. The Shared Path was back to normal, with locals and tourists on their morning walk. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths.

I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk. About halfway, a cyclist coming the other way, said there was a brown snake crossing the gravel track. I saw it, stopped, gave it a wide berth and took a photo, then continued on my merry way. Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my museli bar, then rode to the start of the Moondarewa Spit, but it was barricaded off as Disney was filming a section of their new TV series called Nautilus. The security guard said that Captain Nemo was in it, so I turned around rode back to the Seaway/Spit and back to him. I also rode onto Doug Jennings Park and took a photo of all the Disney workers.

Today's highlight: was the absolute joy of riding.
My normal 6 monthly skin checkup, shows a couple of SCCs had to be cut out. Under Doctor's orders I wasn't allowed to ride for at least a week.

I have started a new routine, which is drive to lab park about 7:15am, have coffee and do shopping at Coles, if needed. Arrive back home and go for a ride leaving approx 8am. Stop at Cafe Rockpool and order a ham and cheese toastie.

I left home at 8:03am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was light and building from the SE.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive, rode through Muriel Henchman park, did a lap of the Seaworld carpark, then rode around Marina Mirage, past Helitours whicch is on the jetty, crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued back to MacIntosh Island.

Stopped and spoke to Mark (the head gardener) I wished him a belated birthday for last Thursday.

Stopped halfway and took a photo of where the gravel path was flooded. As I rode around a bend, a 3ft Eastern Brown snake scampered across the path in front of me and was quickly lost in the long grass, I didn't stop to take a photo. Continuing riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my banana, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then did another lap to both Spits.

    Tue 1st Mar 2022 - Lands End, GC600 Park, Surfers, The Spit - 38.66kms.

Today's highlight: was checking out what was still flooded and there were heaps.

I left home at 9:08am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was blowing like buggery from the ESE.

Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, to my normal spot at Surfers, to take my weather photos. The Shared Path was very light with walkers. Still the dickheads that want to walk down the middle or on the right hand side. These shared paths would be 20ft or 7m wide, bloody great, except for the dickheads. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths.

I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk and the Seaworld Drive shared path.
I was roughly opposite Muriel Henchman Park, when I struck various flooded sections of the gravel path. Luckily, I have only ridden the gravel path approx 700+ times, so I know what was under the water. The 1st wet patch was only tyre deep, the next section was large and long, so I walked around the edge in long grass, no dramas. The next section was over the pedal, so both shoes got wet. The next section would be at least 1-2 feet deep, so I did a U Turn and headed to Seawworld Drive, crossed over onto the new shared path. Rode this to The Seawall/Spit, no dramas. Rode to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos but the spray was flying over the end, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, then headed homeward. I gave Narrowneck and another lap of GC600 Park a miss, as I had to ride back into the gale and that wasn't about to happen.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive.
I rode through Muriel Henchman Park, the wrong way as Seaworld Drive was under water and the cars were drenching everything on the shared path. I continued along the shared path and kept dry, then through Seaworld's carpark. It was chockers about 80% full, as the local schools were closed today due to the floods.

I rode directly to Sundale Bridge and then past Cafe Rockpool, but being lunchtime, it was full, so I didn't stop and even bypassed the caravan park.

Today's highlight: was the joy of riding.

I left home at 6:30am. The breeze was light and building from the South East with a slight chop on the Broadwater.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continuing through the Broadwater Parklands. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap.

Rode to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos but the spray was flying over the end, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then did another lap to both Spits.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive.
I rode through Muriel Henchman Park, then along the bike path upto and through Seaworld's carpark.

I rode around Marina Mirage and the jetty.
Crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued back to MacIntosh Island.

I stopped at Cafe Rockpool and ordered a coffee and a ham and cheese toastie. It was YUMMA.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were only 87 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

Thu 6th Jan 2022 - Lands End, GC600 Park, Surfers, The Spit, Cafe Rockpool - 40.63kms.

Today's highlight: was the joy of being back on my bike after Xmas/NYE pigging out.
Today's lowlight: was riding into the breeze but it wasn't too bad.

I left home at 8:33am, after having coffee at Lab Park and doing a shop at Coles. Got home, sat down and said "fuck it.. I'm going for a ride".
My first ride since before Xmas and boy, do I need it. Someone has been 'pigging out' during the 'off' time.

The breeze was a constant 20kph with gusts to 30+kph from the East South East and the Broadwater had a chop with some whitecaps.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continuing through the Broadwater Parklands. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, to my normal spot at Surfers, to take my weather photos. There were people everywhere out walking etc. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths.

I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk. Rode to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and ate my banana and watched the 20 yachts coming through the Seaway heading to their startline off Surfers. It was a good sight.
Headed down to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, I noticed 2 fins in the seaway, I stopped and waited but Danny dolphin was right over on the South Straddie side. Consequently, no photos.

After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive.
Past Muriel Henchman Park, Seaworld, Marina Mirage pier and the Southport YC and headed to Cafe Rockpool.
As I had already had my daily caffeine fix, I stopped at Cafe Rockpool and had 2 scoops of their 'new' rum and raisin ice cream. It was YUMMA.

I continued homeward, did a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 220 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites.

Arrived at home, after another magic ride.
