Day 136 - Monday 4th September 2017.

Minding the grandkids - Southport Day 105.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

We set the alarm for 5:30am and woke by 100.6FM playing music, got up, dressed and got ourselves organised and were on our way by 6:00am. Arrived at Lukeys at 6:30am and Jo left for work shortly after. I dropped Mont at school, returned back at Lukeys, picked up Marg and Mase and drove back to camp.

We arrived back at camp by 9;00am and Mase and I were off by 9:33am. He does love his cycling now.
We had to be back at camp by 11:30am, as Jo was finishing work about 11am. We rode our normal route straight up to our Apartment and turned around there, stopping at 'The boat Playground'. Had numerous slides and swings with Mason Bear.We watched a guy launch his jetski. Next stop was the 'Helicopter Playground'. Mase loves the helicopter, here he had numerous slides, swings and helicopter rides.
We then had a bit less than an hour to get to Cafe Rockpool for raisin toast and a coffee. We rode to the Nerang River bridge and spotted the AquaDuck in the distance heading away from us. It must have passed under the bridge while we were having raisin toast.
Back at camp, we checked on the nesting bush stone-curlew, it is still sitting on eggs. We arrived back at camp at 11:22am.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 10.9kms is my 57th ride and Mase's 12th ride at Southport for a total of 1,772.1kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,009.6kms so far in Qld.

Marg fed Mase while I went and had a shower. We left camp about 11:55am and arrived at Lukeys about 12;20pm. Left Mase with Jo and Marg and I stopped at Gloria Jeans for coffee before doing a small shop at Woollies Helensvale.

During the arvo, I played on my laptop, while Marg managed a 'nanna nap' before continuing with the bridal coat hanger.

Dinner was egg sangas. They were yumma.

Tomorrow is Bingo.

Mase loves his raisin toast.

Day 137 - Tuesday 5th September 2017.

Bingo - Southport Day 106.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

We set the alarm for 6:30am and woke by 100.6FM playing music. We got up about 7:00am, showered, dressed and got ourselves organised and were on our way by 8:20am. We arrived at Sharks just after it opened at 8:30 and walked in and I claimed our table, while Marg went and ordered a coffee for me, and she ordered a juice and muffin for herself. I bought our normal set of bingo, which consisted of 2 sets of the normal games which comprises 40 games, plus 2 sets of jackpots plus 2 undercovers plus 2 lucky numbers for an even $50.
In the 2nd game, I let rip with a monstrous 'BINGO' and won $30. Unlike last week, we won 4 games. Marg won 2 lots of $50, while I won $50 and $30, SO we were very pleased with tonight's efforts.

Our Bingo summary after our 15th appearance, paid $50 won $150. Outlaid to date: $750 and won so far: $662 current LOSS is $88.

On the way back to camp, we made a doctor's appointment for both of us on the recommendation of Ted and Sue, who used to be our neighbour at this caravan park, but have moved up here. We need to find a new doctor, skin cancer man and dentist. Doctor appears done, the other 2 to be completed.

During the arvo, I played on my laptop, while Marg managed a 'nanna nap' before continuing with the bridal coat hanger.

Dinner was Mr McCain's 'Gordon Blue'. They were nice.

Tomorrow, we may tidy up our Storage King units and I may ride.

No photos OR riding today.

Day 138 - Wednesday 6th September 2017.

A relaxing day and I rode - Southport Day 107.

It was sunny and windy.

I awoke about 7:30am and got up, as I wanted to ride. Marg actually woke up and got up before I woke. It doesn't happen often.
I left camp at 8:33am and there was an awful North westerly wind gusting to 41kph. I headed north to Lands End, turned around and stopped at our Apartment. Today's photos were taken by 'standing on tippy toes' and peering over the fence and also from the 2nd floor balcony. I got permission from Adam the manager to go up to the 2nd floor and take some photos. I continued riding along the shared paths then along the Esplanade to Surfers, where I took my daily weather photo before heading to the Spit along the gravel path. Heading back to camp, I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. Katy served me, she is a very friendly person.
I arrived back at camp at 11:21am after 39.1kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 39.1kms is my 58th ride at Southport for a total of 1,811.22kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,048.7kms so far in Qld.

After showering, we visited Storage King and sorted our 2 rooms. Now we can see every box without moving boxes. it took us 2 hours but it was worth it. On the way back to camp, we stopped at Zarraffas at Aus Fair for a coffee and a small shop at Woollies.

Back at camp for a late lunch and Marg watched a few episodes of The Block, while I buggered about on my laptop.

Dinner was Subway's ham foot longs. They were yumma.

Tomorrow, we have a full day minding the grandkids as Jo is working from 7am to 5:30pm.

Day 139 - Thursday 7th September 2017.

Minding the grandkids - Southport Day 108.

It was sunny and windy.

We were woken by the music on 100.6 Breeze FM at 5;30am. Marg didn't know that this time existed.

We got up, dressed and got ourselves organised and were on our way by 6:00am. Arrived at Lukeys at 6:25am and Jo left for work shortly after. I dropped Mont at school, returned back at Lukeys, picked up Marg and Mase and drove back to camp.
We arrived back at camp by 9;15am and Mase and I were off by 9:40am. He does love his cycling. We had to be back at camp by 1:00pm, so Mase could have lunch and we had to pick Mont up from school. We rode our normal route straight up to Lands End turnaround point, then stopped at the 1st 2 playgrounds where Mase had numerous swings, slides and see saws with his current 'best mate' Mason Bear. Next stop was at the playground opposite our apartment aka 'The boat Playground'. Next stop was the boat ramp, where we watch 2 boats being loaded onto their trailers and one being launched. Next stop was the 'Helicopter Playground'. Mase loves the helicopter, here he had numerous swings and helicopter rides and NO slides as it was occupied by other kids. We rode to the next playground and had swings, and slides.
Continued to Cafe Rockpool for raisin toast and a coffee. Katy served us, she is a sweetie. After our food stop, we noticed AquaDuck just off our shore about 15 meters and slowly motoring towards the bridge BUT to our surprise there were 2 dolphins swimming with it. You don't expect to see dolphins in the Broadwater and so close to shore. SO we 'raced' the AquaDuck and the dolphins heading towards the Bridge. We rode over the shared path that crosses the Nerang River and we saw the dolphins swimming below us, even when they dived you could still see them. They were beautiful.
Then to add to our excitement, the AquaDuck drove up the boat ramp and it was the first time that Mase had seen him out of the water and was rapt to see it drive along the road. Heading back to camp, we came across a 'digger' and stopped and watched it get 6 buckets of gravel from the tip truck and dump it in a 'hole', then the 2 workmen leveled it. Mase was amazed.

I was 'spewing' because I couldn't take photos with my phone as the battery was too low. Typical, the only time I have seen dolphins and I can't take photos. Bugger. We arrived back at camp at 12:49pm.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 16.4kms is my 59th ride and Mase's 13th ride at Southport for a total of 1,827,6kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,065.1kms so far in Qld.

Marg fed Mase while I went and had a shower. We left camp about 1:40pm and stopped at Woollies Pac Pines for Mont's dinner.

I sat in the queue at school and picked up Mont and drove her directly to her dance practice.

We had fish n chips for all of us. They were nice.

Lukey arrived home from work while we were buying dinner and Jo arrived home shortly after. When we finished our fish n chips, Marg and I drove back to camp.

Tomorrow we are doing less than SWEET FA, if that is possible.

No photos today.

Day 140 - Friday 8th September 2017.

A beautiful restful day - Southport Day 109.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

I awoke about 7:30am and got up, as I wanted to ride. Marg stayed in bed, watching "Kochie" until 8:30am.
I left camp at 8:54am and there was a gentle breeze. I headed north to Lands End, turned around and continued riding along the shared paths then along the Esplanade to Surfers, where I took my daily weather photo before heading to the Spit along the gravel path. Heading back to camp, I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. Katy served me, I arrived back at camp at 11:59am after 37.9kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 37.9kms is my 60th ride at Southport for a total of 1,865.5kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,103.0kms so far in Qld.

After showering, I swapped the Bubble over with the mighty Navara, which hadn't started for 2 weeks. It started and Marg and I drove to Spotlight, she ran out of 'stuff' for the padded coat hangers, she is making for a wedding.
On our way back to camp, we stopped at a supermarket for a quick shop. Back at camp, we had a late lunch and while Marg worked on her padded coat hangers, I buggered about on my laptop.

Dinner was made by Mr McCain. They were nice.

Tomorrow, I will ride with my Lukey and Mase. Jay is unavailable.

Day 141 - Saturday 9th September 2017.

Riding with my 2 boys - Southport Day 110.

It was sunny with a light breeze.

Saturday morning was nearly identical to last Saturday morning, except Jay couldn't make it and Lukey and Mase rode at 9am and we found a dead body.

I didn't need to set my alarm which was great. I woke at 7:20am. Marg didn't wake and I didn't wake her.
I buggered about on my laptop and about 9am, I got ready and had brekky, as Lukey and Mase were on their way but had to drop Mont off at Dance practice, while Jo didn't have to work and hopefully managed to do less than sweet FA. They arrived at 9:10am.

We then headed off at 9:24am. Mase wanted Daddy to ride his bike and Papa was to ride his bike. We rode the identical route that Mase and I ride. I rode in front and I could hear Mase talking to his Daddy continuously. Telling him all about the playgrounds that we were passing and which were his favourite etc. We only stopped at 3 playgrounds as we didn't have enough time to visit all, as we were on a 2 hour schedule as they had to pick up Mont from dance practice about 12:00pm. After the 3rd playground, we rode non stop to Cafe Rockpool, where 'Katy' made Mase's toasted raisin bread and Lukey and I had 'special energy food' a Pepsi Max and a sausage roll (without sauce thinking of our weight).
After the food stop, we rode to the Nerang river bridge and by pure luck, the Aquaduck was motoring under the bridge.

As we rode past the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, we decided to ride along the gravel path of the 'reclaimed land', which runs along side the Broadwater. We were 'flagged down' by a guy standing in front of us, his mate was kneeling down on the water's edge with a guy laying on his back. He told us to get help as the guy is dead. I asked Lukey and Mase to continue onto camp, as Mase didn't need to see him. The guy who stopped us had his phone in his hand and said that he had rang '000'. I told him that I would ride back to the security room at Cafe Rockpool. The security guy wasn't anywhere to be seen, but there was a phone number, which I rang and told the security guy where the body was. When I rode back there, there were 2 police and a security guy, 2 lifeguards from the Aquatic centre plus the original 2 guys who found him. The 2 original guys told me that they noticed him floating in the Broadwater and when I saw him, the water was running out his mouth. He didn't look 'flash'. As the 'authorities' were there, there was nothing that I could do, so I rode back to camp. On the way, I saw the ambulance pull up. A very eventful ride today.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 15.9kms is my 61st ride and Mase's 14th and Lukey's 4th ride at Southport for a total of 1,881.4kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,118.9kms so far in Qld.

After Mase and Lukey left, Marg and I went to Runaway Bay shops and bought another child seat for the mighty Navara, as it is too much of a PITA to remove it from the Bubble etc, so we now have 2 identical car seats. We also had coffee at a cafe and a small shop at Coles. Back at camp, Marg managed a 'nanna nap', while for something completely different I updated my web site.

Dinner was chicken, cashews etc. It was yumma.

Tomorrow, we are doing less than SWEET FA and I plan to ride.

No photos today.

Day 142 - Sunday 10th September 2017.

A relaxing day and I rode - Southport Day 111.

It was sunny and windy.

I awoke about 8:30am and got up, as I wanted to ride. Marg woke enough to ask me to turn on "Weekend Sunrise", laid in bed and as I left after having brekky, Marg was still in bed, relaxing.
I left camp at 9:41am (very late) and there was a gusty Easterly wind gusting to 33kph. I headed north to Lands End, turned around and continued riding along the shared paths to Southport YC, then along the road until Surfers. As I approached Surfers, (check out my photos) the dredge which is pumping sand and building up the sandbanks, was off Cavill Ave, SO I take some photos. I then headed to the Spit along the gravel path. As I headed back to camp, I surprised to see AquaDuck #1 stuck in the weekend traffic, SO naturally, I stopped and took a photo. Then 200 meters further along the shared path, I was doubly surprised to see AquaDuck #2 approaching land, SO I took more photos. It was sad that my little buddy 'Mase' wasn't with me to see them. He would have been 'over the moon'.
I didn't have time to stop at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. I tried to find a security person, so I could find out anything about yesterday's "dead body", but couldn't find them. There was nothing on the internet or TV news, so we think that it may be a suicide. I arrived back at camp at 12;18pm after 36.4kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 36.4kms is my 62nd ride at Southport for a total of 1,917.8kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,155.3kms so far in Qld.

After showering, we took some 'stuff' from the fiver to Storage King and from Storage King to Lukeys. On the way back to camp, we stopped at Zarraffas at Aus Fair for a coffee and a small shop at Woollies.

Back at camp for a very late lunch about 2:45pm and a nanna nap for Marg, while I buggered about on my laptop.

Dinner was Marg's world famous hot dogs. Very yumma.

Tomorrow, I hope to ride, while Marg continuing to make her padded coat hangers. She has finished 2 out of 6.

Day 143 - Monday 11th September 2017.

Rex didn't die - Southport Day 112.

It was sunny and windy.

I awoke about 7:30am and got up, as I wanted to ride. Marg slept longer, and as I left, I turned on "Kochie" and left her in bed.
I left camp at 8:34am and headed south. As I approached the security office, there was a security guy there and I stopped and spoke to him.

He was the security guy that Lukey spoke too, he remembers Lukey and also remembers my phone call. He told me that the guys name is Rex and is in his mid 50s. He is also an epileptic and the security guy believes that Rex had a fit while swimming, and that saved his life, as his body 'shut down'. Naturally, the 2 guys that we saw, saved him. The lifeguards gave him oxygen and he came back to life, he was about a minute away from death. When they put him in the ambulance, he was breathing, so he may still be alive now. Lesson learnt, if you are epileptic, don't swim by yourself.

Hopefully, Rex recovers, he certainly didn't look flash. After talking to the security guy, I was happier after hearing the positive news about Rex.

I continued riding along the shared paths to Southport YC, then along the road until Surfers. I took my daily weather photo and then headed to the Spit along the gravel path. As I headed back to camp, I was surprised to see 2 diggers removing sand. Mase would have loved them. I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. 'Zarn' served me and bought my coffee to my table. I arrived back at camp at 11:10am after 29.0kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 29.0kms is my 63rd ride at Southport for a total of 1,946.8kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,184.3kms so far in Qld.

I didn't shower when I arrived back at camp, as I wanted to pull down our white walls and pack them away at our Storage King, as we are leaving this park on Friday. As it turned out, I was glad I pulled down the awning and walls, as it was blowing quite strongly. After finally finishing my 'work', I did have a beautiful shower. As Marg wasn't feeling flash, we didn't go to any shopping centre.

During the arvo, Marg had a pleasant sleep and is feeling better, while I buggered about on my laptop. I also saw the Kite Surfers through our window and went and took a few photos.

Dinner was Marg's chicken, cashews etc leftovers. Very yumma.

Tomorrow, assuming Marg is back to normal, it will be BINGO. Marg is still making the padded coat hangers. She has now finished 3 out of 6.

9:10am - Today's weather photo taken at Surfers.

9:44am - View from The Spit.

During the 10th game, Marg won $20, while I didn't open my mouth.

Our Bingo summary after our 16th appearance, paid $50 won $20. Outlaid to date: $800 and won so far: $682 current LOSS is $118.

On the way back to camp, we stopped off at Storage King and picked up a table and 21 flattened boxes and delivered them to the 'tip', as they were no longer needed. From the 'tip', we drove to Mr Caravan Storage and picked out our spot where we will be leave our fiver for the next few months.

During the arvo, I played on my laptop, while Marg managed a 'nanna nap' before continuing with the bridal coat hanger.

After our food stop, we noticed AquaDuck just off our shore and slowly motoring towards the bridge SO we chased it and took a photo as it approached the bridge with its mate the jet boat. Heading back to camp, we came across a 'digger' and stopped but the digger driver was having a break.

We arrived back at camp at 12:12pm after 15.4kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 15.4kms is my 64th ride and Mase's 15th ride at Southport for a total of 1,962.2kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 2,199.7kms so far in Qld.

Marg fed Mase while I went and had a shower. We left camp about 1:00pm and dropped Mase at home and then stopped at Gloria Jeans for a late lunch.

As we are in the middle of packing up, we had KFC for dinner. It was nice.

We arrived back at camp by 11:00am and Mase and I were off by 11:32am. We had to be back at camp by 12:30pm, so Mase could have lunch and be home about 1:30pm. We could only ride down to the Nerang bridge, where we saw 'Danny' dolphin playing under the bridge, I couldn't take a photo, as Danny wouldn't stay still long enough. We stopped at a few playgrounds and at cafe Rockpool where Katy served us, and made Mase's raisin toast and my coffee. After our food stop, we noticed AquaDuck but due to lack of time, we headed back to camp.

We arrived back at camp at 12:36pm after 6.1kms.
