Day 117 - Wednesday 3rd August 2016.

Dicky Beach to Southport - 168 kms.

We awoke about 6:30am, got showered and started packing up and hit the road at 9:12am.

We entered the Bruce Hwy at the Caloundra onramp, drove 52kms to the Service Centre at Burpengary and had Maccas for brekky. When leaving I bought a bag of crushed ice, which I put down our toilet and the movement (of the fiver) cleans the walls of our 150 liter 'black water' tank. We entered the Gateway and went over the Storey Bridge Gateway Bridge (Lukey are you happy now, I changed it) and continued along the M1 to the Smith St exit. The traffic was excellent, no stoppages at all. We arrived at Southport just on 11:48am, even though Tom told us at the start that our ETA was 11:39am, so very close.
I paid $2,035.64 for 50 nights and we setup on 'our site' (#88). We only setup the Sat Dish and Marg's naughty room, as the forecast is for very windy conditions and also we had to leave camp at 1:30pm to attend Mont's orchestral concert at her school which started at 2pm. Mont plays the trombone. Naturally, she was brilliant.
We will finish the setup with rolling out the awning and attaching the walls and side, in the next couple of days, when the weather quietens down. After Monts concert, Marg and I went back to Jodi's place while Marg minded Mont and Mase, I drove Jodi to Kmart to pick up a shelf. The joys of having a father-in-law who has a ute. On the way back to camp, we stopped at KFC.

Dinner was KFC Zinger Stackers. they were very nice.

PS: Marg's "Dream Catcher" isn't finished yet, consequently, no photo. She didn't realise how long the fringe would take, so far it is day 4.

Tomorrow is a rest day, as we are buggered after today's activities. We may do some food shopping.

Our route from Dicky Beach to Southport - 168 kms.

Day 118 - Thursday 4th August 2016.

Southport - Blowing like buggery and cold - Day 41.

It's our eldest son's birthday.

Happy birthday, Jay. We love you heaps.

It started raining just after midnight and by 8:00am we had received 18.6mm of rain. We awoke about 7:00am, got up, had brekky and went on the laptop. We were in NO hurry to do anything, as it was blowing like buggery, I gave riding a miss.
Around 10am, we drove over to Helensvale Westfield, where I had a $10 haircut, it isn't real difficult to give me a #4 crew cut. It looks good, but it's hard to improve on perfection.

We had coffee at Gloria Jeans and read the paper on our iPads, before doing a food shop at Coles. Back at camp, we had lunch and I buggered about on the internet and watched the wind squalls blow through. I was very happy that we hadn't erected the awning as it is still very windy. Marg managed to have a nanna nap.

Dinner was Marg's schnitzel and vegies. It was yumma.

PS: Marg's "Dream Catcher" STILL isn't finished, BUT very close.

Tomorrow, we are back at the Southport Sharks for BINGO.

No photos OR riding today.

Day 119 - Friday 5th August 2016.

Southport - Bingo at the Southport Sharks - Day 42.

It's still cool with gusty Southerlies. I didn't ride. (wimp).

We both slept well. I woke at 7am and got up, while Marg slept until 7;30am when I had to wake her to get ready for Bingo. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later. Usually we go to Tuesday Bingo BUT we needed our fix, so we went today. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers plus 2 extra green jackpot tickets for $50 and we sat at 'our' table. While I bought the tickets, Marg went and ordered our coffees. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, SO we read the Herald Sun on our iPads.

In the 2nd game, I let rip with a monstrous "BINGO" and won $50, so we broke even. For the remaining 23 games, we were close but no cigar. As usual, Marg let the team down.

Our Bingo summary after our 8th appearance, paid $50 won $50. At Dicky we lost $44. Our overall winnings is still $135.

After Bingo, we drove back to camp and as the wind didn't drop, I didn't erect the awning and walls, hopefully, tomorrow. We had lunch. Marg found a slow cooker recipe, so she cooked that during the arvo. It was tortellini, spinach, tomatoes, vegetable broth and cream cheese. While that was 'slow cooking' and during a sunny period, I laid on my bed to read, BUT fell asleep, when I woke, Marg was snoring like a chaff cutter.

Dinner was the tortellini meal. It was extremely YUMMA.

PS: Marg's "Dream Catcher" IS finished, BUT we have to take a photo of it hanging at Lukey's place, as we have nowhere in our fiver to show it off. So Annie be patient.

Tomorrow, we have a family lunch at Coomera Lodge to celebrate Jay's birthday.

No photos OR riding today.

Day 120 - Saturday 6th August 2016.

Southport - Family lunch at Coomera Lodge - Day 43.

It's still cool with gusty Southerlies. I didn't ride AGAIN.

We both slept well. I woke at 6am and dozed until 7:30am, while Marg slept until 8:00. As the wind hadn't get up at this satge, I decided to erect the awning and walls. It took close to 2 hours , Ted my neighbour also assisted me. Marg has now taken over the whole of her 'naughty room' and my bike has been 'turfed out' to the annex. I finished about 10:30am and then had to shower and get organised for our family lunch get together.

We left at 11:30am and drove to the Coomera Lodge Pub at Oxenford, and arrived at 12pm, followed by Lukey's family and then Jay and Bec and Lynn. We had a nice get together, the boys and myself had a parma, they were yumma, Marg and Lynn had lamb shrank, they were yumma. Bec and Jodi had steak, they were mooing, a bit TOO rare. Consequently, we will not be going back to them. It was great to catch up with the boys and their families, it doesn't happen often.

After lunch, Marg and I stopped at Lukeys, as we remove the hitch and leave it in his shed, until we leave. Back at camp, we relaxed, until Lukey texted me to say that they were going for a walk and thought around the parklands near us would be good, so they popped in. Little Mase is just beautiful.

As we had a nice lunch, we had sangas for dinner.

PS: Marg's "Dream Catcher": I am waiting on the photo, hopefully, tomorrow.

Tomorrow is rest and relax day, also the forecast is for cool and windy.

No photos OR riding today.

Marg's BIG Dream Catcher
approx 18" in diameter and over 36" long.

Day 121 - Sunday 7th August 2016.

Southport - Family 'emergency' - Day 44.

It's still cool to cold at night with gusty South Eastlies.

We awoke to a beautiful 'cold', sunny, cloudless sky. I had to ride.
We both slept well, except at 5:00am I had to get out my sleeping bag, I had on 2 blankets but was still cold, so with my sleepingbag as a blanket, I was warm as. Marg was first up at 6:30am, I got up just before 7:00am. We had brekky and I looked for my cycling gear. I hummed and harred about wearing my tights but gave it a miss as I am tough. While Marg did her thing, I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 8:08am.
As I haven't ridden for a few days and mainly because it is Sunday and there are 'millions' of people out there trying to get in my way, I decided to ride North to Lands End and then South to Lancock St, Surfers before heading North again and out to The Spit and then stopping for coffee at Kamal's Cafe Rockpool. Well, that was the plan.

I was at the Spit when Lukey rang. Jodi has shut the car door on her finger and he wanted us to mind the grandkids while he took her to the GC Hospital, to be checked out. Naturally, I said we would and rode directly back to camp.

I arrived home at 10:29am after 33.6kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 34kms gives me a total of 81kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 22nd ride at Southport for a total of 1,044kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,331kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

Marg was ready and I took my shower gear and change of clothes with us and headed straight to Lukeys. I did feel like a 'dick' driving in my lycra. But stiff. We arrived at Lukeys, he then drove Jodie to Hossy and kept us informed of the wait. He was impressed because in the waiting room, all the TVs were showing the Olympics and the swimming finals were just about to start. So while Jodi was in pain, Lukey sat beside her and watched the swimming. He was quite happy, I don't think Jodi was. While there, 2 resus cases came in and took preference over Jodi's sore finger.
End result is her finger isn't broken, it was X rayed and the nurse strapped it and sent her home.

While we were minding the grandkids, it was time for little Mase's sleep, so while I watched the swimming, Marg and Mont changed Mase and put him down for his sleep, after a short period of crying, he was sound asleep. He woke just as Lukey and Jodi walked in. Timing. We said our goodbyes and Marg and I stopped at Helensvale Donut King, as I was dying for a Donut King hot dog, actually for 2 hot dogs, they were filling.

For the remainder of the arvo, I watched the Olympics on TV and buggered about on my laptop, while Marg managed to have a nanna nap.

Dinner was one of the tortellini that Marg made a couple of days ago. There is enough for 2 more meals. It was yumma.

Tomorrow is rest and relax day, also the forecast is for cool and windy.

Day 122 - Monday 8th August 2016.

Southport - Relaxing and Riding - Day 45.

It's still cool to cold at night with gusty South Eastlies.

Similar to yesterday, we both slept well, about 5:00am I pulled on my sleeping bag. We both got about 6:30am and had brekky and I looked for my cycling gear. While Marg did her thing, I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 7:21am.
I decided on the BIG ride of approx 56kms. I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I photographed the surfers before heading North again and stopped at Surfers to take my daily weather photos then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit and then stopping for coffee at Kamal's Cafe Rockpool.

I arrived home at 11:02am after 56.1kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 56kms gives me a total of 137kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 23rd ride at Southport for a total of 1,100kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,387kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

My trusted treadley is in need of some attention, after 6,490kms, my 'drive chain' is absolutely worn out. If I put any power on the pedals, the chain slips which isn't fun. It must be the awesome power I put through the pedals. Maybe not.
So after showering, Marg and I drove over to 'Ferry Rode cycles' in Ferry rd and they could fix it this arvo, so I left it with them. They quoted $250. A fair price, which consisted of replacing my cranks, 3 front cogs, 7 rear cogs, chain, brake pads and a cable plus labour. I haven't tested it yet, that will happen tomorrow arvo.
After leaving the bike shop, we drove over to 'South Park' to Michels for a coffee before doing a food shop at Woollies then booked the mighty Navara in at Von Bibra Nissan for its 170k service plus a squeaking alternator caused by driving through the flood waters at Birdsville.

Back at camp, we watched the swimming finals that we taped. We didn't know any of the swimming results. During the arvo, the bike shop texted me that my trusted treadley is ready. I drove over and picked it up. While I did that, Marg managed a nanna nap.

Marg made her 'world famous' egg and bacon pie. It was yumma.

Tomorrow is BINGO. Wish us luck, we are going to break the Shark's Bank.

The below 3 photos are my daily weather photos taken at Surfers.

Day 123 - Tuesday 9th August 2016.

Southport - Bingo at the Southport Sharks - Day 46.

We both slept well. I woke at 7am and got up, while Marg slept until 7;30am when I had to wake her to get ready for Bingo. We had brekky and got ourselves organised and left at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers plus 2 undercovers tickets for $50 and we sat at 'our' table. While I bought the tickets, Marg went and ordered our coffees. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, SO we read the Herald Sun on our iPads.

In the very 1st game, the old fart on the table next to us called "Bingo" and I just needed one number BUT LUCKILY, she did a false call and 3 numbers later, I let rip with a monstrous "BINGO" and won $100. After the 1st game we are $50 up and on a charge. A couple of games later, again I let rip with a monstrous "BINGO" and there were 3 of us SO we spilt $30, I won $10. The pressure was on Marg to lift her game, BUT the BINGO Gods weren't smiling upon Marg and she won ZILCH. Better luck next week. We hope.

Our Bingo summary after our 9th appearance, paid $50 won $110. At Dicky we lost $44. Our overall winnings are $195.

After Bingo, we drove back to camp, had lunch as Marg settled down to continue making her 'Chunky woollen' blanket (she has to do something), I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 12:33pm.
I hadn't ridden my trusty treadley after its new 'drive train' etc. I did a ride around the park and it is now better than new, if that's possible.
I decided on my normal ride of approx 56kms. I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Burleigh Heads Bluff. Just over the Nerang River bridge, the jetman was practising new moves. As it turns out, the guy doing the tricks is Jake, who just haappens to be Gail's son, who just happens to run Bingo at the Sharks. Small World moment.
As I was riding along the Esplanade approaching Surfers, check out the 2 photos below, I came across a family riding the weirdest bikes that I have seen. I spoke to them as we rode and they left Brissy, 7 days ago and are heading to Sydney and maybe Melbourne if they have enough time. Unbelieveable.
As I started riding along Hedges Ave, I saw this GMC truck, it is a monster, again check the photos. I eventually made it to the Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I photographed the FEW surfers off the point, before heading North again and stopped at Robbies' cafe for a coffee and then stopped at Surfers to take my daily weather photos then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit, where I ate my 2 bananas and then rode back to camp. It was starting to get cool by now, especially when riding in the shadows of the highrises.

I arrived home at 3.59pm after 56.8kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 194kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 24th ride at Southport for a total of 1,157kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,444kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

After showering, it was nearly time for dinner, but first, we watched today's 4 swimming finals which I taped earlier. While out riding, Marg managed a nanna nap.

Dinner was last night's leftover egg and bacon pie. It was yumma.

Tomorrow, we are back to our club mid arvo for pokies and dinner with David and Di.

Southport - Relaxing and Riding - Day 47.

We both slept well, except Marg woke with a sore throat. Marg stayed in bed, while I got up about 7;30am, had brekky and changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 8:25am.
I decided on my normal ride of approx 56kms. I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Burleigh Heads Bluff. Nothing stood out today. I eventually made it to the Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I photographed the FEW surfers off the point, before heading North again and stopped at the GMC 'monster' truck and took a 'comparison' photo, then stopped at Surfers to take my daily weather photos then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit, where I ate my 2 bananas and then stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee before riding back to camp.

I arrived home at 12:09pm after 56.3kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 56kms gives me a total of 250kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 25th ride at Southport for a total of 1,213kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,500kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

While I was out riding, Lukey, Jodi and little Mase popped in and saw Marg. After showering, I drove Marg to Spotlight to buy a large needle, we found one. We then drove out to Jays, so I could borrow his tripod. I want to try and take some night photos which aren't blurry. After leaving Jays, we headed off to Chemist Warehouse to get a script filled. On the way back to camp, we stopped at Helensvale shops for a coffee and a food shop. We finally got back to camp just before 4pm, when Marg went and had a nanna nap, as her throat is annoying her and consequently, we didn't go to our club for pokies or dinner.

Dinner was a Mr McCain's dinner for me while Marg gave it a miss. It was nice.

Tomorrow, the mighty Navara is booked in at Von Bibra Nissan for its 170k service.

Southport - Mighty Navara 170k service and Riding - Day 48.

We were carless today, as the mighty Navara was booked in for its 170k service.

Marg's sore throat has cleared up, which is great news.
We both slept well, except I had to get up at 6;30am to drive the mighty Navara to Von Bibra Nissan. I arrived at 7:20am and Greg the courtesy driver drove me back to camp, arriving at 8;20am. As we were carless, Marg was still in bed and I went riding, so after brekky, while Marg did her thing, I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 8:44am.
I decided on my normal ride of approx 56kms. I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Burleigh Heads Bluff. I eventually made it to the Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I photographed a couple of shots. Then headed back to the North again and stopped at the GMC 'monster' truck as there was a Toyota Hi Lux ute next it and I thought that it would be a better comparison. Stopping at Surfers to take my daily weather photos then stopped at Beaches for a coffee then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit, where I ate my 2 bananas and then rode back to camp. As I rode back along the gravel walk, I spotted Lizzy, he walked across the track and I stopped, put my bike down and snuck up and took a photo. He was hiding in the grass.

I arrived home at 1:02pm after 57.9kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 58kms gives me a total of 308kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 26th ride at Southport for a total of 1,271kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,558kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

While I was out riding, Matty from Von Bibra rang me, to inform me that there were a couple of concerns. The main one was that the alternator is stuffed and I think that was caused by driving through the floodwaters at Birdsville. Oh well, shit happens. The mighty Navara wont be ready until tomorrow.
Back at camp, I had a beautiful (mains pressure) shower, then Marg and I spent some time talking to various neighbours that we have got to know over the past years. Marg managed to read and didn't have time to have a nanna nap.

PS: Marg has finished the 'chunky wool' blanket that we had so much trouble finding the wool. Photo to follow soon.

Dinner was tortellini. It was yumma.

Tomorrow, the mighty Navara should be ready and I hope to ride.

Day 126 - Friday 12th August 2016.

Southport - Mighty Navara 170k service and Riding - Day 49.

We were still carless today until 4pm, as the mighty Navara was booked in for its 170k service.

Marg's sore throat has cleared up, now its her nose. I think its time for a trade in on a new wife.
I slept well, Marg, well her nose is blocked and she may have 'snored once or twice'. We got up about 7am and I decided to give riding a miss today BUT after Matthew from Von Bibra rang to update me on the alternator's arrival, the mighty Navara probably wont be ready until 3pm ish. I decided on my short route of 34km. So after brekky, while Marg did her thing, I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 8:42am.
I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Surfers. As soon as I turned south, I was riding directly into a 'bloody awful' headwind. I was glad I wasn't riding to Burleigh Heads today, that headwind would have 'killed' me. As I rode past the Broadwater Parklands I watch a catamaran tacking up the Broadwater, he came right upto the beach, where I was standing, on port tack, went about and headed over towards Southport YC on starboard tack. I left him and rode off to Laycock St, Surfers where I turned around and headed north towards the Spit. It was beautiful riding with a strong tailwind pushing me along via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. In the seaway was a yacht 'luffed up' hoisting their mainsail, before heading out into the rough ish waves, pushing into the southerly. I sat on 'my rock' at the end of the Spit, and ate my 2 bananas. At the beginning of the Seawall, there is a wind vane, there was a man doing something to it, SO I stopped and asked him. The wind vane is the one used by the BOM for the Gold Coast Seaway They were giving it a check up. It passed. I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and headed back to camp.

I arrived home at 11;12am after 34.1kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 34kms gives me a total of 342kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 27th ride at Southport for a total of 1,305kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,592kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

Just after I arrived home, Matthew rang again to say the new alternator has arrived and the mighty Navara should be ready about 3pm and he will contact Greg the Courtesy Bus driver, to ring me to organise a suitable time to pick me up. Greg picked me up at 3pm and I was back home by 4pm with the mighty Navara. Marg managed to have a nanna nap during the afternoon.

Dinner was party pies. They were nice.

Tomorrow is Mont's 10th birthday party.

Day 127 - Saturday 13th August 2016.

Southport - Mont's 10th Birthday party - Day 50.

It's 'official' Marg has the lurgy (I reckon).
She has a blocked, snotty nose and her sore throat has re-appeared.

Consequently, Marg slept and feels miserable. She was upset, as she couldn't make it to Mont's party, as she didn't want to spread her 'germs'. She spent all today, either in bed asleep or when she got up, she watched the olympics. Anyway, that's enough of what Marg did today.

I slept well, occassionally woken by the chaff cutter next to me. I got up about 7;30am and had brekky and caught up with the Olympic news. As we were carless for the past 2 days, I had nearly starved to death with no food left in the fiver. Well, actually we had food but you know the feeling, because you can't go shopping, you want something that isn't there. Luckily, I didn't starve, so I was at Woollies at Aus Fair about 8:30am to buy some food.

I left camp about 11:00am and drove to Lukey's place for Mont's party. There are 10 kids invited and runs from 12pm to 4pm. I arrived about 11:40am and there were 4 kids already there. The party theme was 'Disco'. While everyone was doing the final touches, I kept an eye on 'Little Mase', after 30 minutes, I didn't know who was more tired. Mase or me. I think it was me. When all the kids were here, there were 5 boys and 6 girls and the noise level was 'very loud' with yelling and screaming. It was a great day, catching up with Mont and Mase's other grandparents and rels. When the party ended, Lukey and I drove one of the boys home and then I headed home. I was knackered when I arrived home. Consequently, I couldn't be stuffed to write this update. We were both in bed at 7:30pm, one because she was feeling 'second rate' and the other because I was knackered.

Dinner was tinned spagetti, just something easy. It was nice.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned.

Day 128 - Sunday 14th August 2016.

Southport - Marg is still feeling crap - Day 51.

Marg is still feeling shithouse.

Consequently, Marg slept and feels miserable. Today, she sat in her chair or laid on the bed. I lie, we did actually drive to Aus Fair, Marg wanted some stuffing for her little pillow that she is making. It matches my crocheted blanket and little pillow (that Marg made, not me).
A photo will follow when she finishes her pillow.

I slept well and got up about 7;30am and decided that I wouldn't ride, so I joined some of the guys on the bench seats overlooking the Broadwater and we talked crap. It was TOO BEAUTIFUL not to ride, SO I had a change of plans. At 9:45am, I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp. As it was Sunday and there are 2 million people out walking, I decided on my short route, keeping on the road where it was safe to do.
I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Surfers. As soon as I turned south, I was AGAIN riding directly into a 'bloody awful' headwind. As I rode through the Broadwater parklands, there were the clear plastic balls that you climb inside. The kids were queued up and really enjoying themselves. At Main Beach, I was passed by a Ferrari, that parked about 300 meters up the road. As I rode towards it the driver alighted from it. Now I expected either an elderly gent and a young "drug cartel" male. Not really. Anyway, a 'large' elderly woman got out, shut the door walked around to the passenger door, opened it, lent inside and picked up her small while hairy dog, probably 'shitsoo'. I was surprised, I didn't expect that.

I continued onto my turnaround point at Laycock St, Surfers where I headed north towards the Spit. It was beautiful riding with a strong tailwind pushing me along via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. On the Spit, I think ALL Queenlanders decided to walk out to the end. It was chockers, I nearly had to walk. But I didn't. Even with so many people there, 'my rock' was empty, SO I sat on it and ate my 2 bananas, before heading back to Cafe Rockpool for a coffee then headed back to camp. Just opposite our camp, I watched the kitesurfer, nothing unusual, until I saw the FULL view and he is riding a foil. I spoke to his female friend watching him. She said "He is good". What an understatement, he was bloody brilliant.

I arrived home at 12:32pm after 35.5kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 36kms gives me a total of 378kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 28th ride at Southport for a total of 1,341kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,628kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

Back at camp, after I showered, Marg was feeling well enough OR the NEED for stuffing for her pillow overcame her. Either way, we drove to Aus Fair and found and bought the stuffing she wanted and while there had a coffee and did a small food shop. For the remainder of the arvo, Marg had a nanna nap, while I buggered about on my laptop and watched the Olympics.

Dinner was the tortellini leftovers from a few days ago. It was YUMMA.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned.

Day 129 - Monday 15th August 2016.

Southport - Marg is still feeling crap - Day 52.

Marg is still feeling shithouse.

Consequently, Marg slept and feels miserable. Today, she sat in her chair or laid on the bed. We did drive to Mont's school for the weekly assembly, Mont was being rewarded for her Japanese language. I didn't feel like riding, so I didn't.

I slept well and got up about 7;30am and left Marg asleep. I watched the olympics on TV for most of the morning. When Marg arose, she still wanted to go to Mont's assembly. After we had lunch, we drove over to her school and sat in the school hall with Lukey and Mase. Jodi didn't come, as she wasn't feeling flash, what's wrong with our women.
While sitting, waiting for it to start, we had a vibe that something was wrong. The screen said Junior assembly. Lukey, Mase and Marg left after 30 minutes, I stayed for the full 45 minutes and sure enough, we went to the WRONG assembly. After we picked up Mont for school, she said her assembly is next week. We blamed Jodi, as she wasn't with us.

However, as I enjoyed the assembly, I might even became a 'junior school assembly' junkie. I am checking at when Southport Primary have their next assembly. Nah, only joshing.

Back at camp, Marg had a nanna nap, while I buggered about on my laptop and watched the Olympics.

Dinner was Mr McCain's pizza slices. They were good.

Tomorrow is BINGO, if Marg is well enough.

No photos OR riding today.

Day 130 - Tuesday 16th August 2016.

Southport - Bingo - Marg broke the Bank - Day 53.

Marg is still feeling crap ish, which is an improvement on shithouse.

Marg is sleeping better and even though she is not 100%, she was fit enough for Bingo. I slept well and woke at 7am and got up, while Marg slept until 7;30am when I had to wake her to get ready for Bingo. I had brekky and got ourselves organised and left at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers plus 2 undercovers tickets for $50 and we sat at 'our' table. While I bought the tickets, Marg went and ordered our coffees plus she felt like bacon and eggs, so she ordered that for herself. She must be feeling better. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, SO we read the Herald Sun on our iPads.

In the 7th game, I nearly jumped out of my seat. Marg let rip with a monstrous BINGO, very unladylike and won $50. You bloody ripper. It appears that she needs to be crook to win at Bingo. At the half time break, I wasn't close, until the 4th game after the break, I let loose with a monstrous BINGO. A slight problem, I had made a mistake and quickly said that I was wrong and all the old ladies walked back to their tables and put their walking sticks down, I had a feeling that they weren't happy with my mistake.
A couple of games later, I whispered BINGO and won $20. A great day. We go to Bingo expecting to lose our $50, SO any winnings in good.

Our Bingo summary after our 10th appearance, paid $50 won $70. At Dicky we lost $44. Our overall winnings are $215.

After Bingo, we drove back to Helensvale for some shopping and Marg had to vist ROIT to buy something for what she is currently making. Back at camp, we had lunch then Marg settled down to take it easy, and I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 1:11pm.

I decided on my normal ride of approx 56kms. I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Burleigh Heads Bluff. I eventually made it to the Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I photographed a couple of shots. Then headed back to the North again and stopping at Surfers to take my daily weather photos then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit, where I ate my 2 bananas and then rode back to camp. As I rode back along the gravel walk, I spotted another Lizzy, he walked across the track, by the time, I stopped and walked back, he had disappeared. I then continued back to camp, as all the cafes had closed. In the Broadwater Parklands, the Gold Coast Festival of Lights was being setup. (It starts on 26th August until 3rd October - costs $22 adult $14 child)

I arrived home at 4:54pm after 55.9kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 56kms gives me a total of 434kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 29th ride at Southport for a total of 1,397kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,684kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

While I was out riding, Marg had a nanna nap.

Dinner was Coles 'Pub Favourites' Chicken parma. It was good.

Tomorrow nothing is planned.

Happy 39th Anniversary to my darling Petal.
I love you heaps.
Wednesday 17th August 1977.

Back on our wedding day as my new wife and I
were driven from the church to the reception we
heard on the news that "The King had died".
(it was 16th August in the USA).

Marg was in a beautiful wedding gown while I was in a brown velvet suit.

Marg is feeling mediocre, which is an improvement on crap ish, which is an improvement on shithouse.

Lukey and Little Mase wanted to take us to Robina this morning, so we went.
Marg is sleeping better and even though she is not 100%, she wanted to go with Lukey and little Mase. So after Lukey took Mont to school, he drove over and picked us up. We arrived at Robina and we visited a couple of big stores looking for a larger sleepingbag for Mase, but we couldn't find one, SO we went to Donut King and had coffee and donuts and hot dogs plus little Mase had a slice of toasted raisin bread. We had a great morning and arrived back at camp about lunchtime.

We had lunch and while Marg decided to have a nanna nap, and I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 12:26pm.

I decided on my normal ride of approx 56kms. I rode out of the park and headed North to Lands End and then South to Burleigh Heads Bluff. I made it to the Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I spoke to a gent in a motorised wheelchair. Then headed back to the North again and stopping for coffee at BSKT Cafe near Nobby Beach then continued onto Surfers to take my daily weather photos then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit, where I ate my 3 bananas and then rode back to camp.

I arrived home at 4:24pm after 58.6kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 59kms gives me a total of 493kms for August.
1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 30th ride at Southport for a total of 1,456kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,743kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

As it is our Anniversary and me being an absolute gentleman and rather suave, I thought where can I take my loving wife for dinner. As Marg is still feeling off, she didn't want to go out for a 'nice sitdown' dinner. SO Dinner was KFC in the fiver. Gee, I am such a romantic. It was good.

Tomorrow nothing is planned.
