Day 67 - Tuesday 14th June 2016.

Southport - The Day that we broke the Bank... Well nearly - Day 18.

Normality has reappeared into our lifestyle again. Today being Tuesday was Bingo day.

We both slept well. I woke at 6am and got up, while Marg slept until 7;30am when I had to wake her to get ready for Bingo. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later. The carpark was full as the Uni exams were being held in one of their function room, BUT the club held car spots for us, the members, so all good. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers plus 2 extra sets of jackpot tickets for $60 and then sat at 'our' table, as it was free. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, so Marg went and ordered coffee and cake.

I am amazed that the Sharks are financially sound after the Frostys winning streak today.

In the first jackpot game for $100, I won it, then about 30 minutes later, I won another $100. Marg was feeling left out BUT a couple of games later Marg lets rip with a loud BINGO, she won $20. We went close in other games but no cigar.

Our Bingo summary after our 2nd appearances, paid $60 won $220 currently winning $134. Off to a great start.

After Bingo, we drove over to Spotlight as Marg was low on wool, then over to Michels at South Park for lunch (pies and coffee), into Woollies for some food shopping. Back at camp, Marg managed a nanna nap, while I updated the Brissy Show info.

Marg is slowly feeling better and I am a few days behind Marg in my recovery.

We drove to KFC and there were 20 people standing in a queue waiting to be served and at least 10 cars in the drive thru. We turned around and went back to camp. We had cheese and bikkies.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned and depending on the weather, I may go for a ride.

No photos OR riding today.

Day 68 - Wednesday 15th June 2016.

Southport - A quiet Day - Day 19.

Today was a quiet day. It's great to return to normality.

We both slept well. I woke just after 7am, while Marg slept until 8:00am then we buggered about watching Kochie and on the internet. While showering about 8:45am, I noticed that the sun was out and a gentle breeze and I thought that I may go for a ride. by the time, I was back at camp, the breeze had built, the clouds had moved in and my thought of riding had vanished.
We have a leak in Marg's window and as we are expecting more rain over the coming days, I wanted to tape up the window. At least this will eliminate or confirm where the leak is. We also emptied our 1st 8.5kg gas bottle on this trip (it lasted 67 days) mainly heating the HWS and cooking. Our portable clothesline is dying through old age, it needs a U bolt to stop the frame slipping down and loosening the lines. SO we headed to Bunnings, where I bought a roll of clear tape and a U bolt, then over to Westfied Helensvale for a coffee and donuts, you guessed it at DonutKing. On the way home, we refilled the gas bottle at the camping shop ($18).

Last night, we wanted KFC for dinner but it was chockers, SO we had it for lunch. It was YUMMA.

During the arvo, we both managed to have a LONG nanna nap, nearly 1.5 hours.
We had cheese and bikkies. (again)

Tomorrow arvo/night, it is our club night and depending on the weather, I may go for a ride.

This is the view out Marg's window while writing this.
Just to the left is the Gold Coast seaway.
If you look closely, you will see the tape.

Day 69 - Thursday 16th June 2016.

Southport - Riding, Mase came and Dinner at CSI - Day 20.

Today was a great day. Mase gave us a surprise visit.

We both slept well. I woke just after 7am, while Marg slept until just below 8:00am when I turned on Kochie for her and I had brekky and changed into 'cycleman'. As I am still suffering from the 'man flu' and you have noticed that I have not complained.. too much. I decided on a shorter ride of only 44kms, also Marg suggested that I ring her when leaving The Spit and she will walk to Cafe Rockpool and we will have coffee as a 'loving couple'. That was the plan.

I left at 8:08am and headed to the Lands End bridge which is my northerly turnaround point. It was a pleasant ride there, as I had a gentle tailwind. Stopped there and took a photo looking towards Southport/Surfers showing the cloudy sky, which was threatening rain. After turning around and heading past our CP, I had to stop and put on my wet weather jacket, as it was starting to rain, luckily, it was a very brief shower, so I didn't get that wet, only slightly damp. I continued onwards towards Surfers, passing over the Nerang river and past the Southport SLSC, through the Narrows and along the Esplanade to today's southerly turnaround point opposite Laycock Ave in Surfers and onto the shared path. Stopping at my normal spot to take my daily weather photos, then heading back towards The Spit. I noticed that the surfboard sign displaying how many years and days until the Commonwealth games had died. No lights. There were bugger all people on the shared paths. As I rode onto the start of the Federation walk behind the Sheraton Hotel, I managed to scare a jogger. As I approached him from behind I rang my bell and he jumped out of his skin. I continued on along the gravel section of the Fed Walk, until I was blocked by a new fallen tree, I lifted my 'trusted treadley' over it and continued towards The Spit. All the flooded sections are now all dry, at least until this Sunday, when it is meant to 'piss' down again. Lucky us. At The Spit, it was rough with the occasional wave breaking over the rocks, causing a bit of spray.
I rode back to Cafe Rockpool and was about to ring Marg to find out if she was still coming for coffee, BUT she had sent me a imessage saying that she couldn't be bothered getting dressed and walking there. No drama. I said "hello" to Kamal, ordered and ate my triple choc muffin and drank my coffee and then rode back to Lands End Bridge and back to camp.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 44kms gives me a total of 332kms for June and 369kms for May and my 10th ride at Southport for a total of 540kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 850kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

Back at camp, Marg told me that Jodi and Mase were on their way, SO I delayed my shower, as I had a feeling that I could be #1 sandcastle builder. They arrived and after putting on sunscreen, we walked across the new grassed area onto the new reclaimed beach and I built sandcastles. Mase loved it. So did I. It was sunny with a bit of breeze. Eventually, we walked back to camp, said our goodbyes and they headed homeward. It was great seeing both of them. BUT it was probably 'greater' seeing Mase. I did say to Jodi that anytime she wants to bring Mase over to go to the beach during school hours, just ring us.

Mase's day at the Beach

I finally managed to have my shower and relax. Marg made her 'world famous' salmon and onion sangas for lunch. They were YUMMA.
During the arvo, Marg managed to try and have a nanna nap, without any success, while I buggered about on the internet. About 3:45pm, we got ready to head to OUR Club CSI Southport We do OUR club on Thursdays, not that we are 'creatures of habit' BUT we are. Thursday at 4pm, we arrive at CSI, Marg plays the pokies until 5:30pm, while I sit in the 'bar area' with a chilled refresher or two and update this website, then at 5:30pm we move to the bistro and have dinner.

Marg had lasagna, while I had a pizza. Both were very yumma.

Tomorrow: Marg is going to the flicks and I will ride.

8;24am - At Lands End turnaround point.

9:05am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

9:05am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

9:05am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

9:24am - Tree across Federation Walk.

9:35am - Surfers in the background.

9:36am - The odd large wave is still causing spray.

9:38am - The Bush turkeys from Dicky Beach are here.

9:39am - The Spirit of Gold Coast heading out.

10:24am - The Kimberley Rose 2 is still sunk.

10:48am - Where would I be without a George.

10:57am - George and some of his mates at camp.

Day 70 - Friday 17th June 2016.

Southport - Marg went to the movies and I rode - Day 21.

Today, Marg went to the movies (Me before you) with our future daughter-in-law's mother. I gave it a miss and went riding.

We both slept well. Again, I woke just after 7am, while Marg slept until 7:30am when I turned on Kochie for her and I had brekky and changed into 'cycleman'. As Marg was going to the flicks and then out to lunch, I had hours to ride, so I thought that I would check on David and Di at Tallebudgera Caravan Park.

I left at 8:25am and headed south through Southport, Surfers, Broadbeach, stopped at my spot in Burleigh and took photos of the surfers, before continuing over the Tallebudgera creek to the Caravan Park, where I found David and Di, so we chatted for minutes, before I headed over towards The Spit. On the way, I stopped at Surfers for my daily weather photos. Along the Federation Walk, I was rapt to see 'Stumpy' Monty crossing the gravel track. He had nearly made it to the other side before I put my bike on the track and quickly walked to 'Stumpy' Monty and took photos of him. He wasn't fazed by me at all. He was so beautiful, even his stumpy tail.
At the Spit, someone had the nerve to sit on MY ROCK, I was . I ate my bananas and saw a whale about a kilometer offshore, but I couldn't get a photo. There was an occasional wave breaking over the rocks, causing a bit of spray. I rode back to Cafe Rockpool and had my coffee and muffin, then rode back to Lands End Bridge and back to camp.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 60kms gives me a total of 392kms for June and 369kms for May and my 11th ride at Southport for a total of 600kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 910kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

I didn't make it back to camp until 1:05pm and Marg didn't get back until 2:30pm. She enjoyed the movie and had a great time with Lynne. I managed to have a shower just before cleaning time of 2pm. The remainder of the arvo was spent just buggering about, while Marg managed a short nanna nap.

Dinner was Marg's egg and bacon pie. It was YUMMA.

Tomorrow: Nothing is planned.

9:31am - At Burleigh Heads.

9:31am - The surfers were at Burleigh.

9:33am - Surfers everywhere.

9:33am - Nice wave.

10:32am - The spray had nearly blanketed Surfers.

10:32am - At Miami Beach.

11:00am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

11:00am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

11:00am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

11:23am - Check his tail.

11:41am - Still spray at The Spit.

Day 71 - Saturday 18th June 2016.

Southport - Dinner with Marg's sister and BIL - Day 22.

Today, I went riding, we visited South Park and had Dinner with Marg's sister.

We both slept well. Again, I woke just after 7am, Marg was still asleep when I left to go riding. I had brekky and changed into 'cycleman'. Being Saturday, I thought a small ride down to Surfers would be ideal.

I left at 7:48am and headed north to the Lands End bridge turnaround point and headed along the shared path to the Southport SLSC then along the road to Laycock Ave, Surfers. Stopped for the daily weather photos, then along the shared path to The Spit. No wildlife viewings today. Another dude was sitting on my ROCK, then headed back to Cafe Rockpool and had my coffee and muffin, then back to camp.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 36kms gives me a total of 428kms for June and 369kms for May and my 12th ride at Southport for a total of 636kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 946kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

After showering, Marg and I drove over to South Park for a coffee at Michels, then a small food shop at Woollies. Back at camp for lunch, where Marg organised to catch up with her youngest sister and BIL for dinner at our Club. They are picking us up at 5:30pm.
The rest of the arvo was spent with Marg having a nanna nap and I watched the V8s in Darwin. Go Lowndesy.

Jeff and Franny picked us up at 5:30pm and we arrived at our Club. They joined up for a $1 lifetime fee and immediately saved more than that amount on their dinner. Dinner was: Jeff had a chicken parma, Franny had the stir fry, Marg had Arancini Balls and I had the mixed grill plus Jeff and I had the free pancakes. It was ALL YUMMA.

Tomorrow: The storm is forecast, so we will stay home to watch the fiver.

9:12am - Another dude on my Rock. Bastard.

9:47am - Monster Koala truck.

Day 72 - Sunday 19th June 2016.

Southport - Waiting for todays' storm - Day 23.

Today, I was woken when the wind 'kicked in' at 6;30am and it hasn't dropped below 30kph since then. As the forecast is for a 'storm', we decided to stay at camp all day. Just in case.

We both slept well. I woke just after 6:30am and got up and checked that everything was OK in the windy conditions. Marg awoke about 8am and we watched "Weekend Sunrise". We had brekky and I was taping the Darwin round of the V8s. During a break in the rain, Marg and I went for a walk over to the beach and watched the kite surfers. Just as we headed back to camp, a rain squall came through and we got a tad damp.
Mid morning, I started watching the recorded portions of the V8s, while the fiver 'rocked' in the wind. We had lunch and Marg managed a nanna nap while I watched the race 'live'. Lowndesy came 3rd.

Dinner was lasagna that Marg made a few days ago. It was yumma.

Tomorrow: we will 'play it by ear'.

Security works even in the rain.

Marg's great idea to go for a walk.

This dude is riding out the storm 30 meters offshore.

He's down.

Getting up.

and off again.

The kite surfers were having a ball.

More kite surfers.

Marg getting wet going back to camp.

Day 73 - Monday 20th June 2016.

Southport - We voted and I rode - Day 24.

Today, I did some washing, rode and Marg and I voted.

We both slept well. I woke just after 6:30am and got up and took our sheets and pillow slips, that I had removed from the bed a few days ago, to the laundry. We have our own washer but it takes forever to wash these, SO for $5 a machine, it was worth it. I walked into the laundry and noticed that all the machines had out of order signs on them, then I noticed they had new machines. The new machine hold 2 loads of washing for $5, I used 2 machines, cost $10 and took 24 minutes for a full cycle. Came back and hung the bedding on the clothesline.

I turned on Kochie for Marg and had brekky and changed into 'cycleman' and left Marg relaxing in bed, watching TV.

I left at 8:09am and headed north to the Lands End bridge turnaround point and headed along the shared path to the Southport SLSC then along the road to Laycock Ave, Surfers. As the wind was building, I decided on the shorter ride, SO I turned around at Surfers and stopped for the daily weather photos, then along the shared path to The Spit. I was happy as there was noone sitting on my ROCK, then headed back to Cafe Rockpool and had my coffee and muffin, then back to camp.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 36kms gives me a total of 464kms for June and 369kms for May and my 13th ride at Southport for a total of 672kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 982kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

After showering, Marg and I wanted to go and vote, SO we drove over to Aus Fair and parked, then walked out the back doors and about 3 shops along was the election office. We did a postal vote and in 10 minutes, we were back inside Aus Fair and at Cafe Muggachino for lunch. Marg had a waffle something, while I had a 3 egg ham and tomato omelette. They were yumma.
The rest of the arvo was spent with Marg having a nanna nap and I buggered about on the internet.

Dinner was Mr Mc Cain's fish fingers with potato gems plus vegies. Marg cooked it beautifully. It was yumma.

Tomorrow: Is BINGO, we are on a roll.

9:01am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

9:01am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

9:01am - Today's weather photo at Surfers.

9:32am - My ROCK. It's a nice rock.

9:50am - Kimberley Rose 2 is still stuck.

10:34am - This is smartarse George.

Day 74 - Tuesday 21st June 2016.

Southport - Bingo - Today, We didn't break the Bank - Day 25.

Today was Bingo and looking after Mase as Jodi isn't flash.

We both slept well. I woke at 7am and got up, while Marg slept until 7;30am when I had to wake her to get ready for Bingo. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later. The Uni exams are still underway, SO the carpark was full, BUT there was room in our normal area for us. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers plus 2 extra green jackpot tickets for $50 and we sat at 'our' table. While I bought the tickets, Marg went and ordered our coffees. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, SO we read the Herald Sun on our iPads.

Last week, after nearly ruining the Sharks financially, today they got their revenge.

I managed to win 2 lots of $10, that was it. Marg is letting our team down. Big Time.
She even called "Bingo" and then realised that she didn't have it. Embarrassment Plus. We didn't even go close in the other games. Not our greatest day.

Our Bingo summary after our 3rd appearances, paid $50 won $20 currently winning $104. Still in front. bring on next week, we are feeling lucky.

After Bingo, we drove over to Lukeys stopping on the way to buy rolls for lunch. As Jodi is not flash, Lukey is working from home and we came over to look after Mase when he wakes from his lunchtime sleep and I picked up Mont from school. We stayed until about 4pm and then headed back to camp.

Dinner was curried sausages on rice. Marg cooked this last week and we froze a couple of meals. Again, it was yumma.

Tomorrow, we are back at Lukeys to entertain Mase.

Day 75 - Wednesday 22nd June 2016.

Southport - Caring for Mase and Mont - Day 26.

Today was looking after the grandkids.

We both slept well, as we were tired after yesterday's child minding. I woke at 7am and got up, while Marg slept until 8:00am. We got dressed and had brekky and then drove over to Telstra Helensvale, as Marg's new refurbished iphone arrived yesterday and needed a nano simcard. Melody served us and did what we needed. While at the shopping centre, we had coffee at Gloria Jeans and did some food shopping. We arrived at Lukeys about 10:45am and buggered about looking after Mase and later on I picked up Mont from school. Meanwhile, during the day Lukey took Jodi for tests. Mase was so hard to mind, Lukey put him down for his lunchtime sleep and he woke after 2pm. I drove off to pick up Mont from school, leaving Marg to mind Mase.
Jodi is being kept in overnight, so Marg and I are sleeping at Lukeys tonight. I drove back to camp to get our stuff to sleep overnight.

Marg was cooking dinner tonight, her 'world famous' spag bol. Mont help Grandma make spag bol. Mont, Mase, Marg and Me (all the Ms) had pasta, while I had the spag bol sauce. It was yumma.

Tomorrow, it looks like a similar day to today. Hopefully, Jodi will come home tomorrow. We still don't know what is wrong with her.

Day 76 - Thursday 23rd June 2016.

Southport - Hooray... Jodi is back home. All OK - Day 27.

1. Hooray, Jodi is out of hossy and got home about 6pm tonight.
2. What's with this SHIT weather. A maximum of 16.6° I could be home, but then I wouldn't be seeing our grandkids.

Last night, as Lukey was keeping Jodi company in hossy, Marg and I slept at their place. We didn't want to kick Mont out of her bed, as she is still at school, SO Marg slept on the sofa and I slept on a foam mattress on the floor. Consequently, we both slept shithouse. Lukey got home about midnight and woke us to give us an update.
I woke at 6:50am and got up to wake Mont. To my surprise, Mase was in Mont's room, she was dressed and her bed was made. I was that surprised and pleased with her actions, that we gave her $10. She didn't say "No".
I drove Mont to school and then Lukey and Mase and Marg and I drove over to Helensvale for brekky. Hot dogs at DonutKing served us well for brekky. After brekky, Lukey and Mase went to visit Jodi, while Marg and I drove back to our camp and waited for Lukey tell us what we were doing.

At camp, Marg went straight to bed. Not for a nanna nap but a full on sleep. I woke her at 1:30pm, when we drove back to Lukeys. I dropped Marg there and went and queued up with the other crazy parents waiting for the school bell at 3pm. A lot of parents are there early to get a parking spot, so I joined them, sat in the mighty Navara and read the Herald Sun on my iPad. Picked up Mont and took her home. At 4:15pm, Marg and I drove Mont to dance class. It was parent's week, so we were able to watch Mont. She is very talented. We left her there and went to Helensvale shops, where we had more hot dogs for dinner and did some food shoppping for Lukey. Then I dropped Marg back at Lukeys, while he drove to hossy to pick up Jodi. All her tests were good.
I went back and picked Mont up at 6:30pm and to reward her for being so good, she wanted Maccas and she got it. Back at Lukeys, it was great to see Jodi on the couch. She looks good, so Marg and I packed up our stuff and headed back to camp.
At camp, we unpacked and I did this website, while Marg went to bed and read, for a little while, before nodding off. I am sure there are 'snoring noises' coming from her bed.

We had hot dogs from Donut King. They were nice.

Tomorrow, Marg plans to do less than nothing and I hope to ride BUT the weather doesn't look flash.

Day 77 - Friday 24th June 2016.

Southport - Back to Normality but windy - Day 28.

A windy day at camp.

Last night, Marg was in bed early and I wasn't too far behind her.
We slept very well, as we were rather tired. I slept until after 7:15am, looked out the window and decided that I wasn't riding as it was blowing from the North West. Marg woke about 8:30am, I turned on 'taped' Kochie and we buggered about camp, watching Kochie, doing a couple of loads of washing and about 10;30am, we drove to South Park for a coffee at Michels and a small food shop at Woollies. Back at camp, we had lunch and then I laid on the bed reading Jack Reacher (#19) BUT with the sun streaming through the window, I was soon asleep. Marg also managed a nanna nap. It is still windy, which is a pain.

Talking to Lukey during the day, Jodi is feeling better, SO she is playing with Mase, while Lukey is working from home.

Dinner was spag bol sauce in sangas. It is yumma.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned.
