Day 8 - Saturday 16th April 2016.
Sightseeing around Coober Pedy.
I slept well until 5am, pulled on my 2nd blanket. I awoke about 6:30am and decided to ride around the perimeter of Coober pedy and take a few photos.
Sightseeing by Bike.
After I finished my ride, Marg and I headed off to the Breakaways. First, we drove around town and had a 'sticky beak' then headed out to the Stuart
Hwy, turned right and continued for 22kms, then turned right onto the Breakaways gravel road for 9kms which landed us at Lookout ONE, I started taking
photos and my battery on my 'good' caamera died. No dramaa, just change batteries, I have about 4 charged spare batteries, that live in a bag on the floor
in the back. YES DRAMA, no battery bag, I bloody well took it out for whatever reason and forget to return it. Lukcily for us, I had my 'old' camera
that I take on my rides, so all good except my 'old' camera doesn't do panoramic. Meanwhile, Marg is playing with my iPhone and discovers how to take
panoramic on my iPhone. A MAJOR DILEMMA OVERTED. Marg is a smartie.
From Lookout ONE, we drove over to Lookout TWO, a monstrous distance of 1.3 kms away and more stunning rock formations. A bit of history, we did this tour back in
2009 and it was brilliant but too quick. Thta's why this time, we drove it ourselves, I let the tyres down to 28psi on the mighty Navara and travelled to the
conditions and stopped frequently, to take photos. My biggest problem was to prune the 100+ photos down to a handful for this webpage. A BIG Problem.
OK, after the Breakaawaays, we stopped at the salt and pepper rock formations, then continued on with stops un til we came across the DINGO FENCE, or as
it is called "the vermin proof fence". I don't know if that is Politial Correctness gone mad or what. Eventually, we made it back to camp at 12;46pm and spent
most of the arvo in the fiver with the Air Cond going. Late arvo when it cooled down, I started to pack up.
Dinner was poached eggs on toast. It was YUMMA.
Tomorrow, we drive to Marla about 235Kms.
