Day 39 - Wednesday 10th June 2015.

Riding and shopping - Day 34.

I slept very well last night and woke at 6:40am and got up. I felt good, so I decided to go for a ride. Marg woke and laid in bed and watched Sunrise while I went riding.
I rode to Burleigh Heads having a coffee at Robbie's cafe, rode back through Surfers stopping at the Spit where I ate my bananas and watched the surfer taxi, take surfers to South Straddy for $6 return trip. I stopped at the Pirates 5 movie set at the other end of the Spit and spoke to Costa (Gate keeper) for about 15 minutes, he wasn't too busy. Left Costa and headed to Lands End and then back to camp.

Back at camp, Marg was dressed, I showered and changed and we drove over to Oz Fair for lunch at Cafe Moccachino. Marg had scones, jam and cream while I had a 3 egg omelette. It was yumma BUT not as good as Marg. After lunch, we did some food shopping at Woollies and then back to camp. For the rest of the arvo, we did bugger all BUT we both managed a nanna nap.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 58kms gives me a total of 115kms for June and my 20th ride at Southport for a total of 920kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 920kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

We had Maccas. It was Maccas.

We watched TV and buggered about on our laptops.

Tomorrow, we are taking Marg's sister and BIL to Eagles Height.

Day 40 - Thursday 11th June 2015.

Visiting Eagle Heights - Mt Tambourine - Day 35.

Today, we were going sightseeing to Mt Tambourine with Marg's sister and BIL, SO we didn't have to get up early. Consequently, I didn't set the alarm and we both slept until 7:30am. It was heaven.
We eventually got up, showered, and dressed and buggered about on our laptops, watched various rain squalls blow through bring quick bursts of rain. About 11:00am, our chauffeurs arrived and drove us to Eagle Heights, via Jay and Bec's new house. We arrived about midday and visited the German Cuckoo Clock Nest, where Marg bought a wooden box for Mason's 1st tooth, Jeff (BIL) bought a 'thing' for his business partner. We had lunch at Granny Macs, well I did, I had 2 homemade steak, bacon and cheese pies, while everyone else had scones and jam with coffees. In amongst the drizzly rain showers, we walked along Long Rd visiting many of the shops. Stopping for another coffee at the Monkey Tree Restaurant, when the other three decided it was lunchtime, SO they had sangas and wedges. The wedges looked so good that I had a bowl as well. Just as we had finished our shopping and sightseeing, our last stop was Fudge Heaven. Marg and I have been here probably 4 or 5 times in the past 7 years and everytime we stop at Fudge Heaven and buy $40 worth. It is so YUMMA.

We had planned to have dinner at our club tonight, being Thursday BUT after todays action, we decided to give it a miss for this week, because we are buggered. Jeff dropped us back at camp nearer to 5pm. We had a scratch meal and watched TV.

We made corned beef sangas. They were yumma.

Tomorrow, it's Friday BINGO, as we missed Tuesdays due to my 'working' at Brissy show.

No photos today, it rained.

Day 41 - Friday 12th June 2015.

Bingo, our luck is getting better - Day 36.

I slept fair last night, waking a few times. We finally woke up about 6:45am. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later, the carpark was empty, again there were no functions happening. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers for $50 and then sat at 'our' table, as it was free. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, so Marg went and ordered coffee and cake. Last Bingo, our luck had changed. Today, our luck continued, we outlaid $50 and Marg won $35 and I won $5. I was so close on a number of games, but no cigar.
Our Bingo summary after our 5th week, paid $50 won $40 currently our holiday to Date losing $115.

Back at camp at lunchtime, Marg was going to bugger about at camp, while I went riding, even though there were many rain squalls coming over the water. I rode south into a very strong headwind with gusts to 70kph and made my way to Burleigh Heads, where a big black front was making landfall. I headed to Robbie's cafe for a coffee and while there, the heavens opened up, SO I put on my wet weather gear and with the wind blowing me homeward, it was a very pleasant ride, even though, it was raining, unlike Melbourne, it was warm riding in the rain. I still rode to the Spit and it was very rough. Due to the strong wind, I didn't ride to Lands End and proceeded from the Spit directly back to camp.

Showered and buggered about on the internet, while Marg managed a quick nanna nap.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 50kms gives me a total of 165kms for June and my 21st ride at Southport for a total of 970kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 970kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Marg made sangas with the remainder of the corned beef. It was YUMMA.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned until we go to Lukey's for tea and to play Family Feud.

A rain squall is approaching.

While at Burleigh Heads, it was building.

Day 42 - Saturday 13th June 2015.

Family Feud and Dinner at Lukey - Day 37.

I slept very well last night, finally woke up about 6:30am. I got up had brekky, changed into 'cycleman' and headed south to Burleigh Heads. Marg was 'dead to the world'.
I pushed into a headwind the whole way to Burleigh Heads, took a few photos of the rain squalls coming from Surfers. I met these during my ride to the Spit. Talking of the Spit, as I rounded a corner on the gravel path, I encountered 4 parked Army trucks, the personnel were out in the surf doing an exercise. Due to the showery conditions, there were 'bugger all' people out and about on the shared paths, which made for a pleasant ride in the 'warm' rain. I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and muffin and was their only customer while I was there.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 50kms gives me a total of 215kms for June and my 22nd ride at Southport for a total of 1,020kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,020kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Back at camp, I showered and changed and we headed to Oz Fair for some food shopping and a visit to Dick Smith, as my AM/FM radio has finally died. It lasted quite a few years, so I can't complain. I bought a Sony SRFS84C for $60, it works well. About 4:30pm, we drove over to Lukey's shack, as we were invited for dinner and to play Family Feud.

Jodie made a damper filled with stuffing stuff. It was very filling and YUMMA.
After dinner, we sat around the table and with Mont playing Grant Denyer, we played Family Feud. Only problem was Mont is 8yo and taller than Grant. We played numerous games, it was great fun. We left about 8:30pm and headed home after a great night.

Tomorrow, Marg and I are off to watch Mont dance at the Pacific Pines Winterfest.

Day 43 - Sunday 14th June 2015.

A very sad day - RIP My Trusted Treadley - Day 38.

I slept very well and didn't wake until after 7:00am. I got up, turned on "Weekend Sunrise" for Marg and then I had brekky, changed into 'cycleman' and headed south to Burleigh Heads.
I pushed into a lighter headwind the whole way to Burleigh Heads. My Trusted Treadley has lately being shown signs of wear, it is over 25 years old. My chain had been jumping under pressure, which has become very annoying. While riding back from Burleigh Heads, the chain got jammed between the frame and front cogs. In the process of 'freeing it', I managed to bend a couple of the chain links. SO now my chain is jumping more than ever, I had to pedal slowly with very little pressure. While riding back to camp, I figured that with the chain, rear cogs, front cogs, rear derailleur and the hubs are worn out, all this would need to be replaced. With the cost of parts and labour, it will cost over $400, so I am now looking at buying a new 'Travelling' bike.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 262kms for June and my 23rd ride at Southport for a total of 1,068kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,068kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

After I showered we drove to 2 bike shops, both were closed. I will revisit them tomorrow, hopefully buying a new bike. BECAUSE if I don't have a working bike, I will be unbearable and Marg will kill me.

After lunch, we headed over to the Pacific Pines High School to watch Mont dance with her dancing class at the Winterfest. She was brilliant. After that, we went back to Lukey's place, as Marg's sister Fran and Jeff were calling in to see Mason.

Marg made omelettes for dinner, they were YUMMA.

Tomorrow, I am hunting for a bike.

RIP - My trusted treadley.

Day 44 - Monday 15th June 2015.

A very happy day - Bought NEW Treadley - Day 39.

After such a very trumatic day yesterday, with the loss of my trusted treadley, I didn't expect to sleep well, BUT I did, waking just before 7am. I turned on Sunrise to keep Marg happy. I had brekky put my EX trusted treadley in the tray of the mighty Navara and headed over to Ferry Rode Cycles, Ferry Rd, Southport.
I was the only customer in the shop, they had just opened at 8:30am, SO the mechanic checked over the soon to be EX trusted treadley, he quoted just under $400 to fix the immediate problems. One of the other guys mentioned the new Giant Boulder Mountain Bike (that was my plan B cost $429). After the mechanic told me the quote, I went into my new bike customer mode and after test riding the Giant, I managed to get another $30 off, so I paid $399 and as they say, the difference is chalk and cheese. The new bike is a bloody ripper, it will be my new travelling bike, as I have a more expensive bike at home, which is too good to take away with us.
Deano (saleman) said after I transfer the parts off my old bike, to bring it back here as the bike shop has a dude who restores old bikes with donated parts etc. I neatly tied my NEW bike into the tray and 'roughly' put my old bike in the tray. Back at camp, it took a good hour to transfer the rack, aero bars, computer, seat, pump, rear light and botle holders to my NEW bike, then Marg said that I better test ride it, so I went for a 50kms ride down to Burleigh Heads and back out to the Spit. It is beautiful to ride, it 'shits' over my EX trusted treadley.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 50kms gives me a total of 313kms for June and my 24th ride at Southport for a total of 1,118kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,118kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Back at camp for a late lunch, before Marg and I drove over to our club (CSI Southport), I dropped Marg off at the club and then I drove over to Ferry Rode cycles and dropped off my EX trusted treadley for the recycle dude.
At our club, Marg won $5 on the Pokies, I had a few chilled refreshers and updated this website.

Marg had garlic prawns, while I had a mixed grill, for something different. They were YUMMA.

Tomorrow, is BINGO.

Day 45 - Tuesday 16th June 2015.

Bingo and it's raining STILL - Day 40.

Today, our luck continued, we outlaid $50 and I won $25 and Marg won ZERO, ZILCH. Again, I was so close on a number of games, but no cigar.
Our Bingo summary after our 6th week, paid $50 won $25 currently our holiday to Date losing $140.

Back at camp at lunchtime, Marg was going to bugger about at camp, while I went riding, well that was the plan, BUT IT DRIZZLED ALL DAY. Consequently, we were fiver bound all day. We laid on the bed and read BUT we both fell asleep.

Marg made another corned beef with cabbage and mash and mustard sauce. It was YUMMA.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned until we see the weather. If dry, I hope to ride, if wet we may go to the pictures.

No photos OR riding today.

Day 46 - Wednesday 17th June 2015.

Went to the Movies and it's raining STILL - Day 41.

We slept well last night, waking a few times listening to the rain on the roof. We finally woke up about 7:15am to more rain, SO Plan B was that we go to the flicks. No riding today, I am suffering withdrawals from lack of riding.
We had brekky and checked the start times for The Rock's new movie San Andreas. The suitable time was 10:30am at Harbour Town. We left camp at 10:05am and was sitting in the theatre for the starting ads at 10:30am. I parted with $24 ($8.50 each and $7 for popcorn).
The movie was great, plenty of action. Ohhh yeah, if you are planning to visit LA or San Francisco soon, you better wait for 10 years or more, they have some serious rebuilding to do.
At the end of the movie, we drove back to camp and spent the rest of the arvo sitting inside, listening to various degrees of rain and drizzle outside. I was watching a couple of my Blue Bloods episodes on my laptop, while Marg laid in bed and read BUT she nodded off. After 2.5 episodes, I was nodding off at the PC, so I climbed onto the bed, face down on my pillow and didn't move until Marg woke me at 5:05pm. I must have been buggered.

Dinner was left over corned beef sangas. It was YUMMA.

Tomorrow, it is meant to be foggy and then sunny, I plan to ride at least 60+ kms, then we have food shopping to do.

No photos OR riding today.

Day 47 - Thursday 18th June 2015.

Riding, shopping and dinner at 'our' Club - Day 42.

We both slept well, I woke and got up about 6:15am, showered, put on a load of washing and hung it out before going riding.
It was a beautiful morning, no wind or clouds, a little cool but I put on my wet weather jacket and it kept me warm. I wanted a decent ride today, at least 60 maybe 70kms, SO I headed north to Lands End, then south to Burleigh Heads, stopping at Robbie's cafe for a coffee, then out to The Spit, before stopping at Cafe Rockpool for another coffee, before heading back to Lands End again and then back to the Nerang Bridge and finally back to camp, a total of 70.9kms. I was happy.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 71kms gives me a total of 384kms for June and my 25th ride at Southport for a total of 1,189kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,189kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Back at camp, Marg had finished the washing, I showered and we drove to Australia Fair to do some food shopping then back to camp for lunch. Marg buggered about at camp, while I took my new treadley back to the bike shop to buy a pair of bar ends and get my aero bars attached securely to the handlebars. $59 later, I left a happy chappie. All done.

At 3:45pm, we got ready for our 'normal Thursday arvo' at our Club(CSI Southport). We have asked David and Di to join us, they are currently staying at Tallebudgera TP, and hopefully will be here. As you can seen, I have written up to here at the Club.
David and Di arrived before 5pm, we sat around and chatted before ordering dinner and chatting some more. It was a very pleasant dinner and hopefully, we will catch up again before they head to Cooktown in a few weeks time.

Dinner at the Club, Di and I had a chicken parma, Marg had a veal parma, and David had a 12" supreme pizza. We all agreed, it was YUMMA.

Tomorrow, I hope to ride.

Riding and caring for Mason - Day 43.

We both slept well, I woke and got up about 7:00am, had brekky and changed into 'cycleman'. Marg actually beat me up by 2 minutes.
It was a beautiful morning, no wind, the cloud burnt off after 20 minutes of riding. I headed north to Lands End, then south to Burleigh Heads, stopping at Robbie's cafe for a coffee, then out to The Spit, before heading back to camp. Lukey had texted me saying that Jodi was felting crook and could we pick up Mont from school.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 431kms for June and my 26th ride at Southport for a total of 1,246kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,246kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Back at camp, Marg rang Lukey, while I showered. We were heading over to mind Mason and pick up Mont and hopefully, give Jodi a rest. Everything went to plan, Marg minded Mason, I picked up Mont from school and Jodi managed to have a sleep and felt better when she woke up. Lukey is catching the train to Helensvale with one of his workmates who will then drive him home.

Our dinner was corned beef sanags. They were yumma.

Tomorrow, we plan to go to Carrara Markets and Marg and Bec are seeing a medium at Southport RSL.

The girls' night out - Day 44.

We both slept well, I woke and got up about 6:30am, had brekky and changed into 'cycleman'. This time Marg stayed in bed and went back to sleep.
It was a beautiful morning, no wind, the cloud burnt off again. I headed north to Lands End, then south to Burleigh Heads, didn't stop at Robbie's cafe as it was chockers, being the weekend, then out to The Spit, before heading back to camp.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 55kms gives me a total of 486kms for June and my 27th ride at Southport for a total of 1,301kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,301kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Back at camp, Lukey rang to ask if they could come around. As Marg was going out tonight, she wanted a quick nanna nap, so Lukey and family came around about 2:00pm.
Mont and I made sand castles, while Mason love his feet in the sand, he also wanted to eat it. We walked along the beach to see George and his mates at the boat ramp, before stopping at the bouncing pillow, where Mont had a ball. Lukey and family left.
At 5:20pm, Jay and Bec arrived as Marg and Bec were going to see Mitchell Coombes the medium at the Southport RSL. I drove the 4 of us to our club for dinner. Jay and Bec joined our club for the grand total of $1 for life.

Marg has soup, Bec ahd garlic prawns, jay Chciken Parma and I had a mixed grill for something different. Our dinner was corned beef sanags. They were yumma.
We left the club about 6:30pm and dropped the girls at the RSL, while Jay and I went back to camp and watched the V8s for today. Did I tell you that Lowndesy won his 100th race. Good onya, Lowndesy. We picked the girl up about 9:45pm, they loved it. So everyone was happy.

Tomorrow, we plan to go and see Bec and Jay's new house, also I plan to ride.

Burleigh Heads - Surf's up.

Day 50 - Sunday 21st June 2015.

We visited Bec and Jay's new House - Day 45.

We both slept well, I woke and got up about 6:45am, had brekky and changed into 'cycleman'. Marg did wake up long enough to say 'Bye' before going back to sleep.
It was another beautiful morning, with a building head wind going South, the cloud burnt off again. I headed north to Lands End, then south to Burleigh Heads, didn't stop at Robbie's cafe as it was chockers, being the weekend, then out to The Spit, before stopping at Cafe Rockpool for a chocy muffin and coffee, before heading back to camp.
My new treadley was blown over by the wind at the end of the Spit, which broke a spoke. I will have to get that fixed tomorrow.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 553kms for June and my 28th ride at Southport for a total of 1,358kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,358kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Back at camp, after showering and getting ourselves organised, we drove to Jay's new house and met Bec and Jay there about 12:15pm. It is looking good. The concrete slab is down, the timber frame and roof trusses are erected. It was great walking around into each of the rooms. Heading back to camp, we did some food shopping at Helensvale Westfield. For the rest of the arvo, Marg had a nanna nap, while I watched the V8s, not a good day for Lowndesy.

Dinner was frozen pies.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned except for a ride and getting the broken spoke replaced.

Day 51 - Monday 22nd June 2015.

Coffee at Cafe Rockpool - Day 46.

I slept well, Marg thinks that she may be getting a cold or 'man flu', I hope not. I woke and got up about 6:15am, had brekky and changed into 'cycleman'. Marg did wake up long enough to say 'Bye' before going back to sleep.
It was an overcast morning, with the threat of rain, so I left camp at 6:55am. Same as the past few days, the breeze is building from the South. I headed south to Burleigh Heads, stopping for a coffee at Robbie's cafe. It is completely different to the weekend, there were about 15 people there, so plenty of tables. After coffee, I continued out to The Spit, then upto Lands End and back to camp.
Yesterday, I broke a spoke, so after I showered, I took the bike back to the Bike shop who fixed my broken spoke, which was actually 2 broken spokes. Naturally, I couldn't wait for it, so I left it and Alan rang me about 3pm to say it was completed. Alan found 2 broken spokes andd replaced them, it cost $29.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 610kms for June and my 29th ride at Southport for a total of 1,415kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,415kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Back at camp, after showering and getting ourselves organised, we walked to Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and muffin. It was very pleasant. During the arvo, Marg had a nanna nap to try and overcome her 'manflu'. That's her excuse. I picked up my bike and buggered about on my laptop.

Dinner was nachos. Very yumma.

Tomorrow is BINGO. We are feeling lucky and have been practising yelling out "Bingo".

We slept well last night, finally woke up about 6:45am. Today, our luck continued, we outlaid $50 and I won $20 and Marg actually won $5. Big effort. Again, we were both so close on a number of games, but no cigar.
Our Bingo summary after our 7th week, paid $50 won $25 currently our holiday to Date losing $165.

Back at camp at lunchtime, Marg was going to bugger about at camp, while I went riding. It was overcast all day, with the threat of rain and the wind blowing from the South, so I was getting a nasty headwind. Bugger.
I headed north to my turnaround point at Lands End, being briefly stopped at Labrador, as there was a Fait car commercial being filmed. Continued into the nasty headwind, all the way to Burleigh Heads, got to Robbie's cafe about 2:20pm, they close at 2:30pm, so I kept going. Half way out on the seawall, George flew in to say "Hi", then stopped at Cafe Rockpool, where Sean made my coffee and warmed my muffin (purely in a manly way), then back to camp. The Gold Coast marathon is on Sunday 5th July, and the setting up has already started.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 58kms gives me a total of 668kms for June and my 30th ride at Southport for a total of 1,473kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 1,473kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.

Marg made egg and bacon pie. It was YUMMA.
