Day 136 - Riding to Sovereign Islands.

Today I did a big ride (54.85km) as we had nothing planned.

It was another mild night, I started with 1 blanket and later pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept very well.
I awoke about 6:00am and listened to Gold FM, Marg awoke nearer to 7:45m, I had brekky and went riding telling Marg that I will be home about lunchtime. Marg was last seen still laying in bed and when I returned she was up and dressed.
I rode down to Surfers, took the weather photo from out the front of Surfers, then headed to the Spit, where I spoke to a couple of Uni students who were counting humpback whales, so far this morning they haven't seen any. I headed over to Seaworld and then to Marina Mirage where I saw Eclipse (still there) I wanted a coffee at Cafe Rockpool, but there was some function on at the Broadwater Parklands and consequently, the cafe was jumping, so I gave it a miss. I continued onto Angler's Paradise but kept going to Paradise Point, where I rode onto the shared path that led to Sovereign Islands. I crossed over the bridge to Sovereign Islands and through the security gates, as they were open, so I rode around the islands. The houses are very large and after checking realestate.com.au they are all multi million dollar and they look it. Clive's house is huge and so is his neighbour, there are other homes there that are similar size. As I rode back to camp through Paradise Point, I was past by a Ferrari and the 'old fart' driving it stopped out the front of the local cafe, I should have walked in there in my lycra and ordered a coffee but I didn't.

At camp, I showered and we had lunch then drove over to South Park for a coffee and some food shopping. The rest of the arvo, Marg was doing her skin polishing and after 4pm I watered the instant turf on our site.

Dinner was Marg's world famous damper. It was YUMMA, followed by watching Big Brother.

The weather today was sunny with a moderate breeze.

Tomorrow we are visiting the Waterloo Bay Gem Show in Wynnum.

Today we drove 78kms to attend the Waterloo Bay Gem show.

It was another mild night, I started with 1 blanket and later pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept well.
I awoke about 6:45am and listened to Gold FM, Marg woke at 7am we had coffee and got organised and left at 8:00am. Waterloo Bay gem club is off the Port of Brisbane motorway. We arrived at 9:01am, paid the $3 entry fee and bought 4 raffle tickets totally $10. There were approx 20 stall holders selling everything regarding gems, jewellery, psychic rocks etc. As we walked amongst the stallholders, we spotted Jeff and Hazel at their stall, they were the couple that we met at Cloncurry and again at the Calbooture Gem show. I bought the Tourmaline in Quartz from Jeff for $9, he also told us of a fossicking spot in Wallangra where we hopefully will find Tourmaline in Quartz.
The club house is a wooden 2 storey structure with all their equipment downstairs including their library, upstairs is their kitchen and meeting rooms. We had a coffee and Marg had scones with homemade jam, while I had 2 sausage and onion sangas. We left the club at 10:25am and arrived back at camp at 11:29am. We enjoyed the Gem show.

The afternoon was spent with Marg doing her skin polishing and me, watching 3 more episodes of Criminal Intent. I only have 4 more episodes EVER until it finishes. It was a top series.

Dinner was McCain's pizza slices. It was YUMMA, followed by watching the election results on channel 10.

The weather today was sunny with a moderate breeze.

Tomorrow Luke is coming around about 8:30am amd Marg and I are meeting Jay at 10:45am to go house hunting.

It was another mild night, I started with 1 blanket and later pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept well.
I awoke about 6:45am and listened to Gold FM, Marg woke at 7am and laid in bed watching Weekend Sunrise. Luke rang about 7:30am to say he was riding around to see us. Lukey and his green motorbike arrived about 8am and stayed for brekky, we chatted for over an hour before he left and we got organised as we had to be at Jay's home at 10:45am to get to the 'open house' at 11am. The house was very good, Marg and I couldn't pick anything except that a contract had already been signed subject to finance. Hopefully, it falls through, but that is me being a bastard. It was about 1 kilometer from Lukey's shack.

The rest of the afternoon was spent converting AVI and MKV video files to MP4 to view on Marg's iPad.

Dinner was Macaroni cheese. It was YUMMA, followed by watching the taped travel shows.

I was back at cap by 9am and after buggering about for awhile, I finally left and went riding about 10am. My usual ride down to Surfers then out to the Spit then stopped for a coffee at cafe Rockpool with all the young mus and their 'screaming' kids, I don't know why but today the kids were bloody loud. I then headed off to Angler's Paradise and headed back to camp, stopping where George and his mates hang out, they were flying in, so I stopped and snapped a few photos.

The carpark was chockers this morning, I don't know why, obviously there are other functions on apart from Bingo. We bought our 2 full sets of bingo games ($46), found our 'usual' table for 2 and prepared our bingo games, this takes approx 30 minutes. In the meantime, Marg had ordered a muffin and coffee, she had the muffin, I had the coffee. At bang on 9:30am, it was eyes down and into it. I won a game which paid $30, I was rapt, but Marg didn't win a game, then I won another game of $90 so we won $120 for an outlay of $46. Today we won $74 which was our best bingo win EVER.

Summary fo our bingo:

Day 141 - Visited Harbourtown.

Today we visited Harbourtown.

It was a very mild night, I used 1 blanket, we both slept very well.
We slept in until 8am ish. It was forecast to be a hot day and it was. We buggered about camp, said goodbye to Dennis and Kerry from Geelong, did some washing and then drove over to Harbourtown, Marg wanted to check it out and I wanted to buy a 'Legionnaire's hat' for cycling. We walked around, stopped for scone and jam with a coffee, walked around more and I found my hat at Mountain Design. By mid morning it had reached 27°, we arrived back at camp about lunchtime. I made lunch and decided it was too bloody hot to ride, so I didn't.
I opened up the sides of our awning to allow the breeze to blow through, we sat in the shade of the awning and read. I am currently reading The Second Coming of Steve Jobs it is quite enjoyable, Steve has just bought PIXAR.

Dinner was curried sausages. Very YUMMA, followed by watching Big Brother. The weather today was sunny and HOT with a strong breeze.

Tomorrow depending upon the weather, will decide whether I ride.

No photos today.
