Day 118 - Took Mont to and from school.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

We both slept well and woke about 6:30am and laid in bed and watched Kochie on Sunrise. I was on the internet about 7am, when Lukey MSNed me. Jodi was crook and he wanted us to come and take Mont to school, which we naturally did and also picked her up.
We arrived at Mont's house about 8:15am and left at 8:30am and drove the 2 kms to her school, where Grandma walked her to her classroom, we then drove back to camp. I then changed into my cycling gear and headed off to the Spit, there was a bugger of a Southerly (read head wind), but I pushed into it. It was a beautiful tail breeze the whole way from the bridge to camp.
Latest riding update: Today's ride of 20kms brought my total at Southport to 1,020kms or 4,524km so far this year.

Had lunch at camp then drove to Pac Fair (Pacific Fair to you foreigners), as Marg wanted to show a jeweller some of her cut gems and see what sort of rings were available. At Pac Fair, there was a slight problem, we were there, but Marg's gems were back at camp. Consequently, we didn't visit the jewellers. I was heartbroken. NOT. :)

As we planned to drive from Pac Fair direct to Mont's school, we had to waste time at Pac Fair, which we did, had a coffee and then visited the shops, but didn't buy anything. Left Pac Fair and arrived at Mont's school about 2:45pm for the 3pm bell, Marg had her macrame while I took my kindle and was going to read Eric Clapton, another slight problem, the bloody battery was 'critically empty'. Bugger!! So I sat in the mighty Navara like a stale bottle of piss, Marg went and got Mont from her classroom and we dropped her home and then continued back to camp.
Dinner was one pan dinner absolutley YUMMA, washed down with a few chilled refreshers. There is nothing on TV except Big Brother and then I hope to read my Eric Clapton ebook, if the battery has charged enough.

Tomorrow I am meeting Crusty and Annie for a ride, they have transferred from Melbourne to Brisbane and will be on the Gold Coast.

No Photos today.

Day 119 - Riding with Annie and Crusty.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

We both slept well and woke about 6:00am and laid in bed and listened to Gold FM. I changed into my cycling gear and left about 8:10am to meet Crusty and Annie at corner Brisbane Rd and Marine pde at 8:30am. We met and rode along the shared paths to the Spit, where a hoon on a motorbike stopped us, it was my son Lukey out on his Saturday morning ride, he stayed and chatted for a few minutes. After riding out to the end of the Spit, we rode back to our camp, where I showed them our van. We then rode to Cafe Gold Coast in Labrador where I had a coffee while Annie and Crusty had breakfast and coffee. We eventually finished and said our goodbyes and planned to meet and ride the same time next year or when they come back to visit Melbourne.
Latest riding update: Today's ride of 28kms brought my total at Southport to 1,048kms or 4,552km so far this year.

Back at camp, Marg and I had lunch and then drove to Spotlight and Woollies to buy some goodies for tomorrow's birthday party for this old fart. During the afternoon, Marg made my birthday cake, it is coming along very nicely. I watched the V8s. Go Lowndesy.

Ken and Rosie popped in for a chat as they are heading homewards tomorrow. After they left, we had pies for dinner and watched Adam Sandler's movie Big Daddy, then Iwent to bed and read my Eric Clapton ebook.

Tomorrow we are having the family get together for my birthday.

Annie and I riding past Seaworld.

Annie and I at the end of the Spit.

Annie, me and Crusty at the end of the Spit.

Day 120 - Some old fart's birthday party.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

Marg slept well, but I slept crap. I awoke about 2am and tossed and turned until 6:30am, where we both got up, as we had things to do to organise for my party. It was family and Keith and Lucy, our friends we met about 3 years ago in Mt Isa, while cravanning.
I drove to South Park, to buy rolls, then some bubbly and softdrink and then over to Spotlight to pick up the helium filled balloons, which Marg insisted on. I forgot to take some photos, there were 2 balloons with sixty written on it and 4 black and 4 silver balloons. The plates, etc were all in black and silver. I got home and put the bubbly on ice, with the rest of the soft drink. I parked the mighty Navara outside the caravan park in the public area, so Luke could park on our site, as he was bringing some 'stuff' that Marg needed. I also went to the office and asked if my 'old' parents could park on our site as well, as there was enough room, they agreed. Lukey, Jodi and Mont arrived first, followed by Keith and Lucy, then Jay and Bec and finally Mum and Dad. I drove Dad's car to our site. We had more food than we needed. Mum had bought with her a large plate of her chicken sandwiches. Marg made my birthday cake in the shape of 6 0 using chocy ripple cake. It was more than YUMAA, if that was possible. Lunch consisted of rolls and cold meat and salad that you made yourself. They were Yumma.

It was a lovely afternoon and we all had a great time. Everyone was gone by 3:30pm, then we cleaned up, which didn't take long, as there was bugger all mess. I spent the rest of the afternoon watching the Sandown 500 V8, Congrats to Lowndesy and Luff, they killed em.

Dinner was lunch leftovers, we watched Big Brother and then bed was looking good, as we are buggered after a 'big' day.

Tomorrow we are doing nothing, except that I will be riding with Dad.

Day 121 - Riding with Dad.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

I slept well, but Marg slept crap. She was up about 6am, while I got up around 6:30am and went on the Internet before leaving at 7:30am, as I was meeting Dad at Cavill Ave in Surfers. I arrived there about 7:55am and Dad just beat me who arrived a few seconds before me. We rode along the esplanade shared path dodging all the pedestrians and headed to Southport YC, then continued along the coastal path behind the Sheraton Mirage, where we veered off the main path towards Seaworld Drive. We continued along the road to the Spit with Dad following me, where we rode out to the end of the Spit and checked out the views, the breeze was calm and the water was flat as a mill pond. We then rode back along the Seaworld drive and turned onto the path behind the Sheraton Mirage, and then headed to and crossed the Nerang River bridge, and rode through the Broadwater Parklands to Cafe Rockpool, where we stop and have a coffee and chat. After coffee, we headed back over the bridge, past the Yacht club, back to Cavill Ave, where we saw 2 window cleaners hanging by their rope on a high rise, bloody mad, then we parted ways. I headed back to camp via the Spit again and finally arrived back at camp about 11:30am.
Latest riding update: Today's ride of 50kms brought my total at Southport to 1,098kms or 4,602km so far this year.

When I arrived back at camp, Marg was sound asleep, as we were both buggered after yesterday's party. We had lunch and just buggered about camp all afternoon. I confirmed with Phil at Trailblazer whether I was needed at Sandown for the Leisurefest this year, he enquired with the management and was told that the racetrack was not happening this year and consequently, we don't have to be home by Sun 30th September, SO we have now extended our stay at Glen Innes to 8 nights, allowing us to attend the Emmaville Fossicking Show, which should be great.
Dinner was rolls and salad and cold meat leftovers from yesterday's party. We watched Big Brother.

Tomorrow we have our last Bingo.

PS: It is 9:04pm Monday 17th and it has just started pissing down. It last rained on us on 19th July at Dicky Beach.

Dad at Narrowneck on Main Beach Parade, a magic day.

The grandstand are already being constructed for the V8 on Oct 19.

I would not be a window cleaner for 'all the tea in Ceylon'.

Day 122 - It Rained!

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

We both slept well, and got up around 6:30am and went on the Internet. It is Bingo day, so we were in no hurry, as we leave about 9:45am. It has been drizzling and raining off and on most of the morning.
We left camp at 9:45am and drove to our club, paid our $42 for 2 sets of Bingo cards. The first game Marg won and received $30, but that was our only victory. When it finished at 12;30pm, we drove back to camp and had lunch, later in the afternoon, we drove to South Park for a coffee and food shopping. The rain had stopped by midday and the clouds parted, so the afternoon was quite pleasant, we spent most of it sitting under the awning reading. Eric Clapton's son Conor just died and he wrote "Tears in Heaven".
Dinner was macaroni cheese and we watched Big brother.

No riding today.

Tomorrow I will ride with Dad.

yes, it does rain.

Day 123 - I rode with Dad and watched Mont play soccer.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

We both slept well, and woke around 5:45am, and watched Ch7 news, before Kochie started.
I got up around 6:30am and went on the Internet before leaving at 7:30am, to meet Dad at Cavill Ave in Surfers. I arrived there about 7:50am and Dad was late this morning as he slept in. We rode along the esplanade shared path dodging all the pedestrians and headed to Southport YC, then continued along the coastal path behind the Sheraton Mirage, where we veered off the main path towards Seaworld Drive. We continued along the road to the Spit with Dad following me, where we rode out to the end of the Spit and checked out the views, the breeze was very light and the water was flat. We then rode back along the Seaworld drive and turned onto the path behind the Sheraton Mirage, and then headed to and crossed the Nerang River bridge, and rode through the Broadwater Parklands to Cafe Rockpool, where we stop and have a coffee and chat. After coffee, we headed back over the bridge, past the Yacht club, back to Cavill Ave, where we parted ways. I headed back to camp via the Spit again and finally arrived back at camp about 11:30am.
Latest riding update: Today's ride of 50kms brought my total at Southport to 1,148kms or 4,652km so far this year.

When I arrived back at camp, we had lunch and just buggered about camp until 2:45pm, when drove over to Mont's school to watch her go to soccer training. It was great, I even helped by collecting the soccer balls that went astray.
Dinner was macaroni cheese leftovers from last night. Very Yumma. For something different, we watched Big Brother.

Tomorrow I have to drop Marg off at jupiter's Casino and while she is there, I will go riding and then pick her up whenever.

Day 124 - Marg played Jupiters Casino.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

We both slept well, and woke around 6:15am, and watched Ch7 Sunrise with Kochie.
I got up around 7:00am and went on the Internet. I worked out with Marg what time (10am) she wanted to be dropped at Jupiters. I have heaps of time, so I rode up to Surfers and then out to the Spit via the gravel coastal path and returned via the Seaworld Drive. thank goodness, that there was nothing jumping out to be photographed, as I forgot to take my camera with me, I had the 2 spare batteries but no camera. A real senior moment.
Latest riding update: Today's ride of 27kms brought my total at Southport to 1,175kms or 4,679km so far this year.

I got back to camp, showered and changed and drove Marg to Jupiters and returned back to camp. While Marg was losing our money, I was starting to very slowly pack up for our departure on Sunday. I packed away the 2 tarps that we hang inside the shade cloth to stop the rain 'bouncing' through the shade cloth. We agreed that I would pick Marg up from out the front of Jupiters at 1:00pm, I was 2 minutes early and Marg was waiting. Good girl.
She won over $80, so she was probably still down for the full length of our trip, but we were rapt. For the rest of afternoon, we buggered about at camp. I copied 2 songs on my Ipod which we listen too in the car. There were: FUN - We Are Young and Train - 50 Ways To Say Goodbye, both very good. That brings to 7,137 songs on my iPod, mostly 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and others. You should be in the mighty Navara while we are towing the fiver, I am singing away to all my songs, most of the time, I am doing a solo but ocassionally Marg will join in. I think she is deaf.

It is dinner at our club tonight, being Thursday night, but as Marg has had her pokies fix today, we are only getting there for dinner about 5:25pm, no need to get there early, as she is not playing pokies tonight. For something different, I am leaning towards roast beef and pork with cracklin' and vegies. Washed down with a couple of chilled refreshers.
We will watch Big Brother.

Tomorrow nothing planned except meeting Dad at 8am for our normal ride.

No photos today, some idiot forgot to take the camera with him. I wonder who that could have been.

Friday 21st September 2012
Day 125 - Last ride on the Gold Coast.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

We both slept well, and woke around 6:15am, and watched Ch7 Sunrise with Kochie.
I got up around 6:30am and went on the Internet before leaving at 7:30am, to meet Dad at Cavill Ave in Surfers. I arrived there about 7:50am and Dad was on time, he woke up early. We rode along the esplanade shared path dodging all the pedestrians and headed to Southport YC, then continued along the coastal path behind the Sheraton Mirage, where we veered off the main path towards Seaworld Drive. We then rode back along the Seaworld drive and turned onto the path behind the Sheraton Mirage, and then headed to and crossed the Nerang River bridge, and rode through the Broadwater Parklands to Cafe Rockpool, where we stop and have a coffee and chat. We did get a few drops of rain, but nothing worth while. After coffee, we headed back over the bridge, past the Yacht club, back to Cavill Ave, where we parted ways and wished each other a safe trip back home to Melbourne. I headed back to camp via the Spit again and finally arrived back at camp about 11:30am.
Latest riding update: Today's ride of 50kms brought my total at Southport to 1,225kms or 4,728km so far this year.

When I arrived back at camp, we had lunch and then drove over to South Park to buy some food and have a coffee at Michels.
Dinner was yummy nachos. For something different, we watched Big Brother.

Tomorrow we slowly pack up for our departure on Sunday morning.

Dad at the Spit with the sea fog in the background. You can just see Surfers.

My parting view from the Spit.

Taken from the shared path on the Nerang River bridge looking towards Southport YC.

Bugger all traffic heading South. Very unusual.

I now know why. A 3 car nose to tail, no human damage only very slight car damage.

My trusty treadly is all packed away for the long trip back to balmy Melbourne.

Saturday 22nd September 2012
Day 126 - Pack up day.

This is our 7th week at Broadwater Tourist park.

We both slept well, and woke before 6am, as we did go to sleep rather early last night.
We got up and went on the Internet, we were definitely in no hurry, as I had all day to pack up, which won't take all day. I just pottered about packing stuff. About 10am, we drove over to South Park and had a coffee and some food shopping. On the way back to camp, I pumped up the tyres and topped up with diesel. Tomorrow morning, I will drop the pressure to 40psi front and 45psi rear, which is my normal towing pressure. Early arvo, a very nasty looking black front came towards us, but it was all show and no rain, thank goodness. We managed to have a short nanna nap during the arvo.
There were 161 arrivals today at our park, to say the park is jumping is an understatement. The joys of school holidays. It is great seeing all the families getting away for a holiday together, the camper trailers were the popular choice.

Dinner will be eggs and bacon. For something different, we watched Big Brother.

Tomorrow we drive to Casino Tourist park about 174kms for an overnighter, before staying at Glen Innes for 8 nights.

No photos today.
