Day 59 - It rains in Paradise again.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving.

An overcast day with a forecast of rain, I still went for my usual ride to the Seaway. It was a very pleasant ride with the threat of rain, which didn't eventuate. About mid morning, Marg and I drove over to Robina Shopping Centre and I pushed Marg around in her "Black Chariot". It was great fun. The rain did come but only light. We spent the afternoon in the van watching Seinfeld and on the Internet.

Day 60 - Still relaxin' at Broadwater Tourist Park.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

Was awoken by a phone call by Luke at 6:45am, he was feeling crook and was on his way home from Brisbane. We picked him up at Helensvale station and took him to the doctors. He isn't sure what's wrong, so Luke spent all day resting at home. Marg and I got back to camp about 10am and on our way, we returned Marg's crutches, as she no longer uses them, only the "Black Chariot".

Around lunchtime, I went riding, this time up towards Runaway Bay, for a change. I rode past some beautiful houses and at the Runaway Bay Marina, I noticed that about 50% of the boats had For Sale signs on them, the sign of the times.

Late afternoon, Marg and I went over to David and Di's Trailblazer 5th Wheeler (our twin) for a drink and a chat, it was great meeting them and we had a great time just chatting about where they had travelled this year. They are leaving tomorrow and heading eventually to Melbourne.

Day 61 - Happy 80th Birthday, Dad.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

We awoke about 7:30am to the noise of our neighbours, Leo and Wendy, packing up. The 3 weeks that they were here has gone quite quickly, we got on very well together and plan to meet up when we both return home to Melbourne. I rang Dad and wished him a very happy birthday, he was happy because the first floor frame is up on both his units that they are building.
When Leo and Wendy left, I went riding I wore my spray jacket as it was quite cool for the Gold Coast, the temperatures only varied between 14° and 17° for the whole day, with an overcast sky, it was cold. Jeans and windcheater day. say no more.
As it was a cold day, there were very few walkers and cyclists out this morning, but as I was passing the Fish Co-Ops, I rode in and checked out the boats, one in particular had just arrived and was unloading Blue fin salmon. So I took a photo, then as I was riding past the children's park, I saw the Police's latest Chariot.

After a shower, Marg and I drove over to Southport Park aka Centro Southport before Centro went bang, for a coffee and lunch. On the way back to camp, I picked up my new tyre from Bob Jane T Marts for the fiver.
During the afternoon, we watched TV and on the internet as usual.

Day 62 - 60k Service for the Mighty Navara.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

I set the alarm for 6;30am, as I had the mighty Navara booked in at 7:30am at the Nissan dealer for its 60k service. I left camp about 7:10am and arrived at the dealer just on 7:30, I was about the 10th person in the queue. I checked it in and then waited in the service area for the courtesy bus to drop me back to the caravan park. At 8am, the 4 customers for the courtesy bus left Von Bibra Nissan, heading to Clear Island Waters, then over to Nerang then upto Runaway Bay and finally to Broadwater TP. I arrived back at camp about 9:15am, Marg was up and sitting in the sun, reading. For something completely different, I went for a ride upto the Gold Coast Seaway again. On the way back, I stopped in one of the carparks and spoke to the Customs guys, they were looking at a yacht moored in the inlet. A very interesting chat.

About 11:45am, I received a text messgae telling me that the mighty Navara is ready. Great news, sort of, as I was booked to be picked up at 4pm by Adrian the courtesy bus driver, he told me that he is "flat chat" and couldn't pick me up before 3:30pm, so I walked to the CP office and they rang for a taxi. It arrived in about 15 minutes and $20 later, I was back at the service centre and ready to take control of the mighty Navara again, all filled up with fresh oils etc.

Picked Marg up and we went to Harbourtown for a push again in the "Black Chariot". We had lunch there and then went to Tivity which is a gift shop and when we left the shop we had a new 2 foot tall George. This caused a slight problem, because Marg had to carry George and consequently, we couldn't visit the other shops because Marg couldn't see over George, so we went back to camp and will revisit Harbourtown when she can walk the distance.

Today the weather is improving.

See.. Would I lie?

Our new 2 foot tall George.

Day 63 - Still relaxin' at Broadwater Tourist Park.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

Today, we had a few things to do. First, I had to go for a ride, which was great as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary happened during the ride. Next we went to Australia Fair to pick up a Tiger, as it was the Gold Coast Show Day holiday, the shops didn't open until 10:30am. So we parked without any drama, put Marg into the "Black Chariot" and I pushed her to the Gift shop, it wasn't open, so we had coffee at the Coffee Club until the gift shop opened. The check out chick had rung me about 6pm last night to tell me that our Tiger "Tiny" had arrived. Luke had wanted a Tiger as well, so we purchased 2 Tigers. Now picture this, I am pushing Marg in the "Black Chariot" while she is carrying 2 large Tigers through Australia Fair, we did get some smiles, at one stage, I thought that a Japanese was about to take our photo, but he just smiled. Marg was partially hidden behind the tigers.

After Oz Fair I dropped Marg at Jupiter's Casino for 3 hours of fun, while she had fun, I was back at camp, washing the van and emptying the shitter. At 2:30pm, I picked Marg up as planned, she had lost, shock, horror.

Marg's world famous Prawn Cocktail. Absolutely Yumma.....

Another day in Paradise.

Day 64 - Still relaxin' at Broadwater Tourist Park.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

Today, Luke and Jodie were coming around about 9:30am to pickup Tiny's companion, so I didn't go riding until they had been. At 10:15, I rang Luke to find out where they were, someone had got their wires crossed, anywhere I went riding and when I returned they were here. My one highlight of my ride was the nose to tail accident on the Gold Coast Bridge over the Nerang river. A 4wd with bullbar ran into a Commodore which ran into a smaller car, only a little bit of damage, there didn't appear to be any human damage which is very good, but boy, did it stuff up the traffic heading towards Surfers from Southport. I noticed a few weeks ago that on the weekends there are 3 tow trucks parked just North of the bridge, so one day I asked the towies what they doing there and they said they were waiting for the nose to tail to happen. And today it did, I didn't think that it was appropriate to take a photo, even though I passed about 3 feet from the accident.

Marg and I drove over to Centro (Southport Park) to have lunch at Michel's Pateriesse and then did some food shopping at Woollies. At 4pm, we were off to the boys' house as we were all going out to Sizzler for dinner. We also wanted to see Anton, one of the boys' mates from Melbourne who was staying with the boys for a few days holiday. Very weird, everyone were a bit slow, something to do will being hungover after being out on the town (Surfers) the night before.

Another great day.

Marg and I want to do the Aquaduck.

How nice!!!

Jet skis galore.

Surfers galore.

Day 65 - Still relaxin' at Broadwater Tourist Park.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

Today, I wasn't riding until this afternoon, but first Marg and I were off to Pacific Fair (Pac Fair to us locals), on the way we picked up the ignition key for the boys VS. $101 later the boys had a spare ignition key. At Pac Fair, I pushed Marg around in the "Black Chariot", we got the key cut, had coffee at Donutking and did some food shopping at Coles.

A quiet afternoon, I didn't feel like riding, so I didn't. Marg and I watched some more Seinfeld as we buggered about on the laptops, then we both had a nanna nap. I am feeling a lot better.

Tomorrow, we are borrowing Luke's HSV Clubby and then picking up Keith and Lucy, then down to Murwillumbah and surrounds.

No photos today.

Day 66 - Picnic at Tumbulgum and Uki, NSW.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

Today, I didn't ride as Marg and I were picking up Keith and Lucy for a drive to NSW for a picnic and pub lunch, but first we had to swap cars at our boys' house, we took Lukey's car as it is more comfortable for four people than the mighty Navara. We left Keith and Lucy's about 9:45am and headed off, down the motorway through Coolangatta onto Tumbulgum which is an old historic town on the banks of the Tweed river, we stopped there for morning tea, which Lucy bought. It was yumma. We also met another couple Ray and Valda, friends of Keith and Lucy. We then drove over to Uki to the Mount Warning Hotel and had a very nice counter lunch. After lunch, we drove the 75kms back to Keith and Lucy's for a coffee, then we dropped Luke's car back home and drove the mighty Navara back to camp.

We had a brilliant day.

Day 67 - Still relaxin' at Broadwater Tourist Park.

Each day, Marg's ankle is improving. She can walk but not upto walking around a shopping centre etc, that's why we have the "Black Chariot".

Today, I rode my normal route out to the Gold Coast Seaway and back. there were 2 highlights during the ride.
Highlight 1: I was riding along the shared path over the Gold Coast Bridge doing about 5kph in granny gear, as I approached a young woman walking towards me. She had her headphones on and as we passed, I smiled and she casually said to me "Ride on the F..king road". Why is it that, when these situations happen, I never have a quick retort ready. On my return trip, I kept an eye out for her, I was all ready to continue our one sided conversation, but alas, she was not to be seen.
Highlight 2: As I was riding along Seaworld drive, just past Seaworld on my way to the spit, I saw a police car up ahead, it was stationary and had its lights flashing. As I got closer, I noticed that it had pulled over a commodore station wagon, with 2 surfers in it. One cop had the 2 males sitting on the footpath, while the second cop was searching their car. After riding out to the end of the seawall and returning past this spot, the cops and surfers were still there, with one cop on the radio and the other cop watching the surfers sitting on the footpath. I assume that they were surfers as there were 2 boards on the roof.

Later in the morning, Marg and I went back to the Medical centre to check out her ankle, the doctor recommended that Marg has a bit of Physio done it. We then went to Southport Park for lunch at Michel's Pateriesse. The pies are yumma, as usual.
On the way back to camp, we booked our Whale watching tour for tomorrow leaving from Seaworld.

No photos taken for today.
